Publisher's Summary
An RT Reviewers’ Choice Award Finalist, Romantic Suspense.
Alone is the fourth book in Bone Secrets, the multimillion-copy bestselling series.
One rainy night in the woods outside of Portland, Dr. Victoria Peres is called to the site of a haunting crime scene. Six beautiful young girls - all in white dresses and arranged in a perfect circle - have been left for dead. Only one girl, fighting for her life at a nearby hospital, has survived the carnage. Things get stranger still when Victoria and the police discover that the disturbing arrangement of the bodies - as meticulous as it is mysterious - is straight from the pages of a decades-old cold case. Victoria is called on to do what she does best, read the bones of the dead for clues...while dealing with the surprise return of her first love, medical examiner Seth Rutledge. Only this time she must figure out how the two cases, fifty years apart, are connected.
In the fourth book in her heart-pounding Bone Secrets series, bestselling author Kendra Elliot sends listeners on a dark and thrilling journey as forensic anthropologist Victoria Peres races to solve a horrific new case while confronting the secrets of her past.

More bone secrets in Oregon
Alone is a very typical Kendra Elliot mystery. It's an excellent story that's a combination of science and relationships. Neither mystery nor suspense are particularly strong. Alone is not a romance novel but it could be considered chick lit. Tanya Eby's narration is excellent.

Just OK
The love story and mystery/suspense wasn't as good as the first and third novel in the series.

Kendra Elliot Keeps Delivering
I absolutely love how she ties all her characters and their various professions into cohesive yet unique stories. The stories just keep getting better and better and you end up caring deeply about the characters. More audible books please!

Fabulous narration for a GREAT story!
This was a total WIN for me for on both the story front and the narration. Tanya Eby is a fabulous narrator ~ I wish she'd done this whole series! There have been 4 stories in this series so far ~ Chilled, Hidden, Buried and Alone ~ and all 4 have had different narrators. That pretty much drives me crazy, lol, as we see cross over characters.
Dr. Victoria Peres is a forensic bone Doc ~ she's with the medical examiner when he's called out late to a chilling scene where 5 girls are dead, and 1 barely clings to life. She's appalled ~ and surprised when the first love her life shows up on scene, Seth Rutledge. She's surprised to find that he's trying for her retiring boss's job...and that he's going through a divorce fromt he woman he'd left her for so many years ago.
The detail of the crimes in Ms. Elliot's books are eerily real to read about ~ and her characterization is so life like you KNOW the people you're reading about. I loved the interaction between Seth and Victoria ~ it was believable and had you rooting for Seth, who'd done what he thought was the only right thing there was to do, and Victoria who's guard has never quite went down since their relationship was over.
Ms. Elliot threw a few red herrings in there to fool me and make me think I knew whodunnit ~ and even when you DID know who it was to doubt it, lol.
Just an all around fabulous listen I'd recommend to any suspense fans!!

Awful performer
Terrible inflection. Do authors not approve the performers? She had such great ones on the previous books in the series.

Just OK..
Any additional comments?
One reviewer on Amazon said it was more of a romance than a mystery. I beg to differ. There was really nothing romantic to speak of. There was no desire, no passion and definitely no wanting. You could take the one gratuitous sex scene and the few swear words out and all those readers who hate both of those things would probably love this book. I was looking for a good romance and a mystery and don't feel like I got either one. I'm glad this book and the audio was free with my KindleUnlimited. I can't see myself reading anything else by this author.
As to the narrator: As usual Ms. Eby did a good job. Not much emotion but at least the men sounded like men.

Narrator's Chronic Mispronunciation Distracts
Would you try another book from Kendra Elliot and/or Tanya Eby?
Yes. I like the sound of Tanya Eby's voice, but I found her mispronunciations (the main character's last name, along with many other instances) of simple words extremely distracting.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I was actually a tad surprised at the twist!
Could you see Alone being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No.
Any additional comments?
The dialogue is a bit hokey.

Really Bad! I had to turn this off after one hour!
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This was so bad I could not stand it anymore. The Narrator was so bad..
How could the performance have been better?
Yes.. A different Narrator!

Not Thrilling....weak plot
The plot was slow to evolve......the romance, slow, and predicable ....lots of descriptive romantic stuff ( gestures, thoughts, actions ) repetitive, repetitive, repetitive......
Plot does take a unexpected turn towards the end.....but not strong enough to give this novel more than a two rating.......
