Publisher's Summary
The Carmichaels and the Grahams have gathered on Nantucket for a wedding. Plans are being made according to the wishes of the bride's late mother, who left behind The Notebook: specific instructions for every detail of her youngest daughter's future nuptials. Everything should be falling into place for the beautiful event - but in reality, things are far from perfect.

My new favorite!
I have listened to almost all of Elin Hilderbrand's books now, and for so many reasons, Beautiful Day is my new favorite! I usually limit my audio books to work, but this one I couldn't stop listening to...at work, on my walks, even at home. And, I will probably listen to it again someday... I really didn't want it to end.

Meh. Nothing particularly special about this book.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Therese Plummer?
The narrator was the best part of the book, so yes, I would listen to Therese Plummer again.
Could you see Beautiful Day being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Unfortunately, I could not see this being made into a movie or tv series. Actually, I'm not quite sure how it made it into a book.
Any additional comments?
Meh, is the best word I can think of to describe this book. Generally, I love Elin Hilderbrand, but this one just didn't quite do it for me.
It started out strong with a notebook that the deceased mother had written to her youngest daughter for when she would be married since she knew she wouldn't be around to see it, but after awhile it became annoying how the mother pretty much dictated this poor girl's entire wedding and the drama that unfolds is a bit entertaining, but nothing to call home about.
There are so many characters that I found it a bit difficult to keep up with everyone and all their family & extended family.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

The last page?? Huge build-up/ huge disappointment
This is my third book by Elin Hilderbrand and my least favorite. I usually find myself liking the characters and being able to relate to them but I just couldn't in this book. First of all, Jenna's meltdown was beyond childish. I wanted to slap her the whole time and tell her to grow tf up. Second, I mean come on...the notebook is nice and all but the mother totally dictated her daughters entire wedding which was a bit selfish. And third, omg the build-up throughout the entire book about what was written on the last page was a total let down. I had to rewind to make sure I heard it correctly. Nothing special...just one last bit of advice. Overall the book was good but was annoyed several times throughout. On a good note, the book has taught me to allow my daughters to have the wedding of THEIR dreams when the times comes, not mine...

A good summer read (although slightly flawed)
I enjoyed this book - it was light and refreshing and the story line was entertaining. I liked that there were a few unexpected surprises in the story line. There was also a wide array of very colorful characters. I actually found some of less central characters to be particularly intriguing. However, the main character, Margo, was hard to like at times. I also found the story line about the bride and her fiance to be a bit boring and I thought the mother's notebook was a bit much - she was very overbearing! I also think the narrator's southern accent (which applied to just a few of the characters) was pretty terrible - it was distracting. But all in all, it was a good book - primarily because of the less central plot lines. The best part was the diversity of the characters - that was great! I truly appreciate it when there are diverse characters (in this case, a black gay male who was one of the minor characters) - diversity is often something that is overlooked in "beach reads."

2nd time wasn't a charm
this is the 2nd book by this author that I read this month. I did not love the 1st one, but based on reviews decided to try one more. I actually disliked this book even more. It was very boring and cliché as was the other book. I like a good romance story, but this was too long an drawn out. There were too many underdeveloped characters discussed as well. I found myself fast forwarding through the audio just to get through it. I felt annoyed and exasperated throughout. I will never read another book by this author nor recommend it.

Beautiful and Endearing Story
I loved the narrator of this beautiful story chronicling a mothers love for her children and true love and devotion for her beloved husband. This was one of the most unique way to use a main character, who passed away early on in the book, to drive the storyline and erupt as the heroine one could only hope to emulate. will miss this character!
