À propos de cet audio
A woman trying to rebuild her life.
Kennedy is doing all she can to escape, to prove that she's not the monster her father was. A simple life of peace and service is all she needs.
A man haunted by a past he can't forget.
Cain has buried his demons under layers of control and success. The only thing he needs is his company and his solitude. Certainly not a woman with captivating green eyes filled with ghosts so similar to his own.
He's a reminder of the life she's left behind. And she's a threat to his tightly guarded control. As sparks fly between them, they discover that what they might need most is each other.
But with pasts like theirs...you never know when darkness might descend.

About the Creator
Kennedy is running from her past - from the sins of her father and a family that feels she betrayed them. She wants nothing more than to live a simple, quiet life in this beautiful town, with her newfound family and friends. Cain is escaping some demons of his own and decides to buy a house in Sutter Lake to find a little peace and quiet - and he meets Kennedy!
Their love story is beautiful and endearing. I love how Cain tries to protect Kennedy. I really loved watching these two break down their walls and allowing the other into their lives. They have kept their secrets hidden deep and eventually they begin to open up and let out those vulnerabilities to one another.
It wasn't easy for them to overcome something that they have tried hard to keep buried and then watch them come out stronger for it. **chef's kiss* I love these layers in characters so much! I want them not just to love but to hurt and cry and scream and just let loose all the emotions so that I can come on that journey with them.
Of course, helping them along the way are my favorite Sutter Lake couples. I always love to see how their relationships are evolving as they interact with the latest couple and their love lives - sometimes it's meddling (Go Grandma Irma) and sometimes it's a sounding board and most times it's just support and unconditional love. Catherine does this so well and it's what makes me such a fan of her stories!
Aaron and Maxine - as I go through these books I just love how they portray the emotion of each of these character couples - not to mention bringing back the others in this town that I've come to love. They are right on top of these emotions and banter (oh how I love the banter).
This book makes me love the age gap trope
