Publisher's Summary

From #1 New York Times best-selling author Nora Roberts comes a trilogy about the land we’re drawn to, the family we learn to cherish, and the people we long to love…

Book Three of The Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy, Blood Magick

County Mayo is rich in the traditions of Ireland, legends that Branna O’Dwyer fully embraces in her life and in her work as the proprietor of The Dark Witch shop, which carries soaps, lotions, and candles for tourists, made with Branna’s special touch.

Branna’s strength and selflessness hold together a close circle of friends and family - along with their horses and hawks and her beloved hound. But there’s a single missing link in the chain of her life: love…

She had it once - for a moment - with Finbar Burke, but a shared future is forbidden by history and blood. Which is why Fin has spent his life traveling the world to fill the abyss left in him by Branna, focusing on work rather than passion.

Branna and Fin’s relationship offers them both comfort and torment. And though they succumb to the heat between them, there can be no promises for tomorrow. A storm of shadows threatens everything that their circle holds dear. It will be Fin’s power, loyalty, and heart that will make all the difference in an age-old battle between the bonds that hold their friends together and the evil that has haunted their families for centuries.

Don’t miss the first two books in the Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy, Dark Witch and Shadow Spell

Loved this trilogy

This trilogy is a favourite, but this third one was presented the best. Susan Ericcson does all of the voices so well. Just loved it.

Amazing trilogy ending.

I cried so many tears in the ending of this book that I'm considering listening through again. This was an amazing ending to the trilogy.

Fun But Formulaic

Blood Magick is the third and final book in Nora Robert's Cousins O'Dwyer series. It follows the third set of pairs, Branna and Finn, in their attempt to take down their greatest enemy and a curse that hurts them all.

What worked for me: the intertwined narrative of present and past and how both protagonists and ancestors played a role in the final battle. Susan Erickson as the new narrator was engaging and really drew you in.

What didn't work for me: having a third different narrator (characterization was great but pronunciation of names was different than the previous) and the slow and painful building of the third pairing's character arc.

You will like this book if you're into the no-brainer Roberts romances, but will find this repetitive, drawn out, and anti-climactic if you've already read her other romance series.

MUCH better narration than the first two.

Loved all three stories, but I suggest you read the first two for yourselves. The narration was spot on in this one. Drew me in and let me immerse myself in the tale, without being any kind of distraction.

Perfection!

What made the experience of listening to Blood Magick the most enjoyable?

The narrator.

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

.Much preferred Susan's performance over those of the previous two narrators in the series
In the previous audio books, Iona's character (to me) was only tolerable. Although a "bit" character in the Blood Magick, I actually liked Iona's character, not near as irritating as she she came across previously.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The cohesiveness within the circle of friends throughout their various struggles.

Any additional comments?

Only that I wish Susan Ericksen had been narrator for the entire trilogy!

Want Katherine Kellgren

The book and characters are very much in tune with Nora Roberts and just as exciting with a climatic and exciting finish. But I must say I enjoyed the 1st book the most because of the narrator. I wouldn't mind listening to it again if it was read by Katherine Kellgren. I'm not saying that Susan Ericksen didn't do a great job it's just that the voices better suited KK more cause she did the first book.

Ok

I enjoy all things Nora Roberts but I thought this entire series was very similar to her Sign of Seven trilogy. Susan Erickson was awesome as always though when I first hear her voice I always think Eve Dallas! Trilogy was just ok.

Disappointed

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A better narrator. She made Brianna sound very overbearing...

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Story was good, It followed with the other books well.

Would you be willing to try another one of Susan Ericksen’s performances?

Maybe, not sure,

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Just kind of blahhh, I had trouble really getting into the story, like I did with the first two books.

Any additional comments?

Don't know why but I did not enjoy this book as much as the first two, the narration seemed off somehow. ???

Narrator ruins it

Would you try another book from Nora Roberts and/or Susan Ericksen?

I bought this as an ebook and an audiobook because I wanted to finish the trilogy. The narrator is simply AWFUL. She uses a very forced and stilted pretend Irish accent that is just too annoying to suffer through. I switched to the ebook version and found that the author--unusually for her--also went WAY overboard with the whole Irish tone dialog trope. It's very distracting.

What could Nora Roberts have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Try filling in the gaps in the story with something other than forced "Irish" dialog.

How could the performance have been better?

Use a different narrator; if you're really trying for an accent, at least make it authentic.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Only redeeming quality is that it eventually finishes the story.

Not bad

Its a good story. It felt a bit rushed, although the speed is quite slow. I'd recommend setting the speed at 1.25x. It was easier to listen to at a faster speed.
