Publisher's Summary
#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents the first novel in a compelling trilogy about three brothers bound by fate, blood, and a timeless enemy.
In the town of Hawkins Hollow, it’s called The Seven. Every seven years, on the seventh day of the seventh month, strange things happen. It began when three young boys - Caleb, Fox, and Gage - went on a camping trip to The Pagan Stone...
It is only February, but Caleb Hawkins - descendant of the town founders - has already seen and felt the stirrings of evil. Though he can never forget the beginning of the terror in the woods twenty-one years ago, the signs have never been this strong before. Cal will need the help of his best friends Fox and Gage, but surprisingly he must rely on a stranger as well.
Reporter Quinn Black came to Hawkins Hollow hoping to make its eerie happenings the subject of her new book. She too can see the evil the locals cannot, somehow connecting her to the town - and to Cal. As winter turns to spring, they will shed their inhibitions, surrendering to a desire that will grow and form the cornerstone of a group of men and women bound by the fight against what is to come from out of the darkness…

spooky supernatural
I enjoyed this book. The main characters are all ordinary people, which makes them relatable, who live in extraordinary circumstances.
Phil Gigante is one of my favorite male narrators. Each of his male characters have their own voice - different pace, accent, mannerisms - thatbrings each to life as individuals. The same is true of female voices, but sometimes the effort to differentiate comes off as too much "valley girl" and not enough smart woman.
Good opener to the series. I'll definitely continue with the rest!

Story line and performance
Story line is interesting and good but the performance was not so good. The female voices were not that good and not that different from one another. I think that this performer would be more suited to do men’s voices.

Blood Brothers
I loved the story and the humour used throughout the story which lightened the scariness of the subject matter. Although I enjoyed the story I felt it incomplete or because it didn’t kill the demon and it seemed to me this was supposed to be the end and final showdown. I also hoped that the suggestion of love being the key to ending it fit good would have had more to do with the confrontation at the end. I do hope there’s going to be a sequel. T Richards

Frequent Listener
Wasn't sure how I was going to like a Nora Roberts book, I was getting lots of trash talk from my family and friends about it being girlie. Never one to shy away from a challenge, I continued on with my listening journey. First, I enjoy Phil as a narrator, I read where someone said the book needed a better narrator, I find that hard to believe as it seemed to me that Phil did a great job bringing personality and a believable difference to the many characters. I've listened to some readers that prettty much put me to sleep, didn't happen on this book.
The story was very different from the sort of books I normally listen to, yes I am a guy and pretty much feed on Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, Griffin, Wood, Silva and that sort, but I found this very enjoyable fair. Imaginative and fun to listen to, I do recomend it now. What is best, I have the last laugh on my family.

So-So for Nora
This book fell a little flat for me. I liked the characters and the plot idea but it just felt a little contrived and not up to Nora's usual standards. I bought the whole series in advance so I am hoping for an improvement. I might have just had really high expectations after reading "The Circle Trilogy" that I adored. I will finish the series but it definitely shifted to the bottom of my TBR pile.
The narration was good but the female voices were a tad cheesy.

Terrible Narrator
Terrible Narrator. I rarely say this as I believe to listen to audio books I must be flexible as to how a character is portrayed by the narrator. But this one was terrible, no. Horrible. Not only was his voices for the women appalling but his male voices were not much better. The sex scenes were painful- to the point where further into the book I had to skip them. The scenes were well written, but it was embarrassing to hear it from this narrator. I could tell he was embarrassed by them too!
I only wish Susan Ericksen had narrated this one, she is brilliant with Nora Roberts books. This narrator was so bad I really don't know if I liked the book or not. It was so hard to listen to it and even harder to care for any of the characters, the way it was read. So disappointing.

Great story needs better narrator
I have to say I have always enjoyed Robert's books and this is another one to add to my list. The only problem I had was the narrators choice of voices was horrible. All the women were screetchy and annoying as well as Fox's which made it somewhat hard to listen to without cringing when one of them "spoke". This is a great gripping story, you just need to make it through the voices.

Narration too bad to get past
The story was fine and the male character narration was fine (not great by any means) but the decision made by the narrator, and then okayed by someone in charge, for the terrible female character voices is just a shame. It was so distracting and irritating that I couldnt even finish it. I had to stop listening after a few chapters. I usually love anything by Nora Roberts but this was a rare disappointment.

Easy reading trilogy
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I recommend this book to people who want something light and magical and romantic. If you're looking for something deep and meaningful, you must look elsewhere.
Would you recommend Blood Brothers to your friends? Why or why not?
I would recommend Blood Brothers to my friends if they are looking for a vacation read.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator is a man, therefore the male voices are mostly spot on. Female voices...well, I felt as if he must have some pretty solid stereotypes of women in his mind when he read these characters. I had to sort of get around the problem by replaying the dialogue in my head, by asking myself how I would have read it and telling myself that it's okay...it's okay...these women are really smart, they just sound like fools. (Sorry, narrator.)
What would have made this romance irresistible?
Female narrators are best for Nora Roberts books.
Any additional comments?
I like these light romances. Though I would like for them to have more depth. I must assume that these kinds of magical romance trilogies are just fluffy, which is fine for light entertainment.

This narrator is AWFUL
I won't buy any more audiobooks that he narrates. Listened to some others by another author and he just sounds false and whiney most of the time. No genuine emotion in his voice which detracts from the books he reads.
I gave three stars because the book is vintage NR, an easy and predictable read.

Easy on narrator; too much fantasy for me, tho
I've read lots of negative reviews of the narrator and just wanted to go a little easy on him. It is quite difficult for male narrators with deep voices to do female voices; and he does end up sounding female, just not in an attractive way. He does the male voices wonderfully, though, and the dramatic effects for the scary parts made me jump out of my skin each time!!!
Having said that, I'm not crazy about the amount of fantasy in the story itself... I knew it was part 1 of a series (it says so in the title!) and now part of me is curious about what happens next but part of me really doesn't want to go through this experience again (maybe a non-audio book borrowed from the library rather than bought)
The romance part was OK though and the characters were interesting

Crap
I love most of NRA Roberts’ novels. This novel however was boring, predictable an could not stand the characters. Chauvinistic males and female characters that try to be strong but end up appearing bland and weak. Save your money to buy some of her other books.

What the Heck!
Okay, this is my first review and I have been using Audible for probably about two years now. I have to say that this was the worst narration I have ever heard! I can't even get through the whole book. All of the males in the book sound like 12 year olds from a really bad B-rated Syfy movie and all of the females sound as if they were the cast from The Birdcage staring Robin Williams. I cannot finish this book! To those of you that have and will finish it, congratulations! Boy am I disappointed.
