#1 Indie Next Pick!

One of People’s Best Books to Read in February
A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Love, Theoretically and The Love Hypothesis.
Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again...
Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was….
Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she's ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.

Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project—a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia—Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

Story
The many lives of theoretical physicist Elsie Hannaway have finally caught up with her. By day, she’s an adjunct professor, toiling away at grading labs and teaching thermodynamics in the hopes of landing tenure. By other day, Elsie makes up for her non-existent paycheck by offering her services as a fake girlfriend, tapping into her expertly honed people-pleasing skills to embody whichever version of herself the client needs. Honestly, it’s a pretty sweet gig—until her carefully constructed Elsie-verse comes crashing down.

After the death of my mother and her Bonded, I was relieved to find my own Bonds. I was sure everything would be okay if I had them. It wasn’t. The fate of our people is in my hands, and I know we’re better off if I’m alone. After five years on the run, I’m caught and dragged back to face the men I ran away from. Intelligence and Confidence
What I particularly loved about Misery is her intelligence and great character development. I really enjoyed the emphasis of importance that was given not only to her romantic relationship with Lowe but also to her friendship with her sister being her guiding light. This might be an odd comment but as a teacher I particularly loved the strong vocabulary used by Misery to showcase he’d I intelligence. Not since “ A Discover of Witches,” have I seen a confident and intelligent female lead that isn’t arrogant. Lastly…the
knot was hot!

Unique Entry in this Genre
I especially appreciate the smart/strong MFC, as well as the 'Romeo and Juliet slant in the paranormal world' inspired plot. Eagerly awaiting the sequel - hope the audiobook version doesn't lag too far behind the book release this year.

Wow! Such a read!
Ali Hazelwood never ceases to amaze me. Fantasy, science and mystery. She put my favourite things in one book. She has done it again. It reminds me a bit about Mercy Thompson series but with more. There were a many surprises, some I guessed pretty accurately and some I was like how did I not see that. Either ways it was all good and enticing and kept me hooked. I loved then intimate scenes and how they grew into each other: I love things like this! Trust and friendship and really hot scenes ❤️

Worth every second and penny!
If you enjoy paranormal romance this book is for you. This book is worth every second and penny! I loved that it wasn't a super complex story with a million characters to attempt to remember. The story grabbed ahold of me right from the start and didn't let go. I actually couldn't stop listening and was upset when I had to do other things and needed to pause the book. I was also upset when I learned there is only one book to this one...so far. It is too good of book to not be a series. It has the perfect amount of sex for a romance book that makes you wait for it and love every second once you get there.
