Publisher's Summary

Court Gentry is caught between the Russian mafia and the CIA in this latest electrifying thriller in the number one New York Times best-selling Gray Man series.

When you kick over a rock, you never know what's going to crawl out.

Alex Velesky is about to discover that the hard way. He's stolen records from the Swiss bank that employs him, thinking that he'll uncover a criminal conspiracy. But he soon finds that he's tapped into the mother lode of corruption. Before he knows it, he's being hunted by everyone from the Russian mafia to the CIA.

Court Gentry and his erstwhile lover, Zoya Zakharova, find themselves on opposites poles when it comes to Velesky. They both want him, but for different reasons.

That's a problem for tomorrow. Today they need to keep him and themselves alive. Right now, it's not looking good.

Gripping

The well written, fast paced story was complimented by a superlative narrator. Couldn't put it down.

I could not put that book down. I believe this as even better than Backblast or book #1!

I love this series

I couldn't wait for this next book to come out. I love listening to Jay's voice as he brings the characters to life. The story was very compelling given the current state of the world. My only complaint was that Zack was not in this story! The banter between Court and Zack is among my favorite fictional relationships.

Meh

Pretty anti Russia, kinda ironic seeing how the Ukrainian government are a bunch of mobsters. But hey the grey man is still a bad ass.

Top tier!

One of the best books so far. Question for the author though: Does Six know that there are headphones that don’t fall out all the time?

I just can't get enough of this character.

I always know this guy is going to be critically injured, but come up shooting and breathing. Knowing all this does not remotely put any damper on my need to go on and on as long as possible. I
simply love this series.

Capitalized on Russia/Ukraine war without OK plot

Like many other authors in similar genres in 2022 Greaney based his plot on an ongoing Russian/Ukranian war without providing much context nor plot details. The story is really simple even though provides some storyline/character development elements at the end for the entire series (no details to avoid a spoiler). Snyder's performance is on par with previous releases and good as usual with occasional flatlining glitches that mostly don't disturb listening experience. As usual for Greany and traditional for the Gray Man series the real story development starts in the second part of the book. Unfortunately for this release, because the story is trivial, there is not really much to develop, so Greaney goes into extremely scrupulous description of details to simply fill in the pages without much plot advancement. I got bored really fast after that and the only reason for finishing the book was higher than average listening experience. At the end, I enjoyed the book enough to listen once but not enough to keep.

Plot is weak

Gray Man is great as usual, funny witty dialogues. But the plot isn’t lacks the thrill and excitement as previous stories.
