Publisher's Summary

Court Gentry is caught between the Russian mafia and the CIA in this latest electrifying thriller in the number one New York Times best-selling Gray Man series.

When you kick over a rock, you never know what's going to crawl out.

Alex Velesky is about to discover that the hard way. He's stolen records from the Swiss bank that employs him, thinking that he'll uncover a criminal conspiracy. But he soon finds that he's tapped into the mother lode of corruption. Before he knows it, he's being hunted by everyone from the Russian mafia to the CIA.

Court Gentry and his erstwhile lover, Zoya Zakharova, find themselves on opposites poles when it comes to Velesky. They both want him, but for different reasons.

That's a problem for tomorrow. Today they need to keep him and themselves alive. Right now, it's not looking good.

Gripping

The well written, fast paced story was complimented by a superlative narrator. Couldn't put it down.

I could not put that book down. I believe this as even better than Backblast or book #1!

I love this series

I couldn't wait for this next book to come out. I love listening to Jay's voice as he brings the characters to life. The story was very compelling given the current state of the world. My only complaint was that Zack was not in this story! The banter between Court and Zack is among my favorite fictional relationships.

Good. Bad. But never ugly.

Gentry seriously needs to work on his grip strength! Jesus Mark, c'mon! You're boy drops his gun these days if the wind blows too hard. Create tension another way please and thanks. Other then this minor gripe, I quite enjoyed the ride here.

Heart pounding

Can anyone say current affairs. I don’t know what number this novel is in the series of the Grey man, but as the most current book, I had no problem following this story along. Several previous characters are active players in this storyline. A new reader to this excellent series might have difficulty following along and know why some people should not be trusted. Let’s just say they should have been terminated a few books ago.
So do not hesitate to learn about the Gray man and despite everything that has happened to him. He is a good guy in his grey world.

Another incredible book

Amazing, gritty on the edge of seat book. Character development is so well done and keeps the hook in. Loved it.

I liked it

I liked it. It was what I was expecting. Six is getting old and banged up. Can’t be a super hero all the time. Liked the progression of his character

Disappointing

This novel was poorly written. There were so many silly and unprofessional actions taken by a group supposedly excellent in making the right decisions and fighting the bad guys. This was by far the worst of this series. I was hoping it would get better but just got more and more ridiculous.

It’s a MASTERPIECE!!!!

Where to begin? With this book that’s a good question. Court is off working private jobs once again. Of course the book begins with Court in a life and death situation and he would be the one to walk away. Meanwhile Zoya if in Milan, she’s depressed and drinking. Feeling ashamed of her home country. She’s messed up a few “easy “ jobs and wonders if she’ll ever get another. That’s when her handler calls with an offer.
At the same time a Ukrainian man (Alex Valesky) has been tasked with a job from a Russian acquaintance. He’s given a cell phone full of incriminating information about Russian officials siphoning off money meant for their military. Alex works for a bank and can prove where the funds went.
Now everyone is after Alex. The Russians want to keep their secrets, the Americans want them.
Enter Court and Zoya.
Court is contacted by Suzanne Brewer. He’s astonished that she even knows his whereabouts.
I started listening to this at 4am and haven’t been able to put it down. I wanted to write this review before I finished because I didn’t want to be tempted to write anything additional and take anything away from another listener.
Jay Snyder does a phenomenal job narrating (as always)!!
This book has my VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

caveat lectorem (ie Reader Beware)

when you get to about the last 45 minutes of this book, you are going to want to hide from the world. The pace, action and suspense is such that when my phone rang with 22 minutes left, I really wanted to ignore it but the ringtone told me it was my son.
Having read all the gray man novels to date, I have gotten to where a book could come out every other month and I probably still would anxiously await the next release. I am reminded again that in Gentry’s world the good guys are around…I am afraid today we have more Brewer’s who chose power over patriotism and reward over sacrifice. I guess I should be very happy there are fictional worlds to escape to!
Many series I have read start to get stale after this many iterations, I am happy to say that this book is as fresh and new as you could want, but still as familiar and comfortable as meeting up with an old friend!

Not the best

This is one of my favorite series so I was pretty sad when this book did not live up to the previous ones. It was quite boring and very predictable. I never felt like I couldn’t stop listening like with all the other books. I noticed many small errors in the story like a character being dressed as man and described as how much of a man she looks like then giving a passport to a cop with a girls name and they don’t even second guess it, spent time describing court putting on big boots but a few lines later he kicks off his tennis shoes. Love the series as I said and I’ll listen to the next one but if it’s as bad as this I’ll probably move on. The whole thing felt like it was taking headlines from the news and adding fluff to them and then forgot to edit afterwards.

I was not interested until half way through. If this was my introduction to Gray Man I would not have stayed until the end.

Great listen but not my favorite

I am a Gray Man addict, I’ve read them all. Six is not quite up to par but still his intrepid self. Decide for yourself, lots of twists and turns and he is still amazing

Not MG’s best but he is a super high bar.

Besides 6, everyone else is too pathetic to root for. I come here for something better than the reality in the world.

All the previous Gray Man masterpieces have earned my loyalty. I’ll stay with him until the end.

Disappointing...

I love the gray man series, but it's going down hill. This one was Non stop action. Zero character movement. A basic plot. Honestly, i got bored by all the action and not enough plot. Side note - The Gray Man movie was terrible.

Same ole gray man

This book is much better than book 11 which was not good. The characters are pretty much the same and the story interesting and in great detail. Its kind of a spy novel and a spoof on a spy novel as over and over again Cort gets in impossible situations and some how gets out of them. The action is pretty predictable but that is what these stories are about. If you want a story where you are entertained without much to have to think about this is it! Fights in dark trains, jumping off roofs, hand to hand combat, crooked gov officials, twists and turns. In the end the hero always winds up being the goat. I guess that's to continue the
series. The narrator is a 10! Makes the story exciting.
