Publisher's Summary
For Logan Anderson, moving on from a traumatic past means moving back to his hometown of Castle Rock, Colorado, to start a personal-security business with his brothers. But it's not long before Logan runs into Grace Mason, his best friend from high school...and the woman who never answered his letters during his Army years.
Grace was pleasantly surprised to see Logan return to Castle Rock, despite their falling-out ten years ago. Everyone always assumed they would end up together, including Grace, who had eyes only for him. But as Logan eventually escaped their town, Grace got pulled further into her family's controlling grasp - and farther away from the man she loved.
Now, united by scars both visible and not, the two must fight to free Grace from the suffocating hold of her family. But the Masons won't let go easily - and they'll do whatever it takes to keep the couple apart.

Not her best
Normally Susan Stokers books a bit like fast food, you know you shouldn't eat it...but you can't help yourself... And you enjoy it. With that said, I am a fan of Stoker, I have all her books. I respect that she is venturing into a new series that is trying for realism, but with that said, this new series has some plot holes big enough for a pickup truck to drive through. I feel that an author is creating a world for the reader, and they must make that world real within itself, but once that spell breaks the reader is pushed out from the world and starts to question it. For the first time happened to me with a Stoker book. It happened a number of times actually, to the point I was questioning the writing and plot and wasn’t able to enjoy her world at all. Plot holes, they are a many. I found myself chanting "call 911" and at several points and asking the characters to WWNDD? What would Nancy Drew do? At one plot turn they have a woman being abducted on film, and grand theft auto, but the characters come off blasé with …." Ah we called the police, they'll look for her, and with that restraining order they are taking it more seriously, but its only been an hour".... Really? No i dont think so...... What is really striking is the lack of sub characters that are in law enforcement. Not one interaction with the police in the book, and that is where some of the walls crack in the world Stoker is creating. The female lead is very unlikeable at times, and you question her reasoning. The lack of police involvement in the story was attempted to be plugged with a single line..."the next week we worked with the FBI & police". And it’s an afterthought to the story, and it screams it. Another area that walls cracked in the world were a hotel room scene, where the police should have been called, if anything to say someone was found…. But no…. and it just isn’t believable as its written right now. Spoiler alert: Within the last chapters of the book, is a prison visitors scene, the female character makes an announcement about being pregnant with Male twins early in her pregnancy. The way she makes this farfetched announcement, makes her so unlikeable. That she has had doctor’s appointments without telling the father, then drops the bomb on him to smite her mother? And lets be clear, you cannot detect the gender that early in a pregnancy, determine two heartbeats? Sometimes, it just depends… but the walls of the world cracked more. And it left me wanting to research if sperm can be a factor in twins…. The book has promise, but needs rewrites for a more believable security firm plot who interacts with law enforcement, knowing that evidence needs to be collected and a case built. Without that, you ask the characters to WWNDD, especially since Stoker is departing from her “Tech super world” where her characters can make one call and get what they need.
What I’m amazed by is that none of the beta readers pointed these things out, it’s so unlike Stoker to have a world that doesn’t hold up.
So, 3 stars because I like Stoker, and I know she can do better. And hopefully this review might be viewed by her team and I hope I offered some constructive suggestions. It isn’t my aim to be mean, just honest.

A breath of fresh air
This book was such a refreshing read. It had serious topics, but it wasn't the average love story, in the way of I want him, I don't want him, I want him, I don't want him type. I love how grace was very sure of what she wanted and what she didn't want, I love the fact that she didn't go willingly with her father. The amazing part was how protective all of the brothers and her friends were of her and her efforts to get away from her parents. Can't wait until the next book.

Another fine story from Susan Stoker!
I haven't had a book by Susan Stoker that disappointed me, and this one, as usual, was no exception.
The story of Grace and Logan revolves around parental abuse--in Logan's case, he and his brothers suffered physical abuse from their Mom, while Grace endured emotional and mental abuse from both her parents.
I love that Ms. Stoker is not afraid to tackle any topic, even though some may trigger anxiety to readers who have gone through her character's experiences. She keeps it real. What's more, sen though she writes in series, she does not keep her readers hanging and always makes it a point to give us, her readers, closure.
And as usual, Erin Bennett gave a mighty fine performance with her flawless narration. Can't wait to hear her next work!

Sweet Lasting Love That’s Meant To Be, Despite Devious Parents
Three brothers brought back to their home town upon the murder suicide of their parents who begin a security company.
Logan is just finishing with his military service, moves back to his home town and avoids his high school crush...he never felt good enough for her. Grace, who also had a crush, seems to have the perfect life but she also avoids Logan.
A story of abuse, manipulation and hurt and pain. Two sweet people who due to no fault of their own missed out on 10 years of being together.
There is a lot of suspense, questions, fear of rejection and secondary characters, who will have their own stories, who fill the story with looks into the mistakes and fears love can cause...
So nice to have a good looking military man who doesn’t have to jump from one bed to another but is looking for love. Love of brothers, friends and the support that is possible.
The narrator did an excellent job as well.
I am moving onto the next book, with one of Logan’s brothers..then the next brother and finally a surprise 4th book about Graces best friend.
Well worth the time and cost. No cheating, alpha males, strong women, suspense and some steam.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story!
This story was built around two very abusive families that caused their children to suffer due to their parents dysfunction. Grace and Logan prevailed in the end due to their diligence and love for one another despite all obstacles their parents threw in front of them.
I highly recommend listening to this wonderful romance story as I believe you will love it. I believe it is a very good story with some very steamy scenes in it.
