Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Corinne Michaels comes a new emotional and riveting standalone love story.

One night, eight years ago, she gave me peace.
No names.
No promises.
Just two broken people, desperate to quiet their pain and grief.

In the morning, she was gone and had taken my solace with her. I left for the military that day, vowing never to return to Pennsylvania.

When my father dies, I’m forced to go home to bury him. At least I'll finally be rid of his farm, which is grown over and tangled with memories I've fought to forget.

And that’s when I find her. She’s even more beautiful than I remember and has the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen.

Years have passed, but my feelings are the same, and this time I refuse to let her go. They say you can't bury the past, and they're right. Because when long-ago secrets are exposed, rocking us both to the core, I have no choice but to watch her walk away again....

Kept me interested til the end.

Wish that when a girl is talking that they use girl voice not a boy voice??

Great storyline...

Got a little too long at parts - it was drawn out where I actually just skipped ahead. But fell in love with the characters and patiently waiting book #2!

This book is sooooo amazing.

I cannot say enough great things about it. Love, protection, just enough angst and plot twist and OMG...the hint at book two has me giddy! I'm going to read it again. So good! Oh, and let's not forget the ADORABLE little girl.

The best ever!

I live this book so much! The story was awesome! The narration was also top rate. I read all of Corinne's books but I think this might be her best so far.

SWOON!!!!

Connor Arrowood ...sigh. All you need. I knew when I read the blurb this story would evoke feelings . Go places . However .WOW! Zach and Andi their narration really brought the depth of this story across. Such an intimate portrayal of these character. As always I'm falling hard. I think this may be my new favorite .Connor and Ellie, words really don't do any justice to them at all. Just wait till you meet Hadley this little girl who steals your heart from the start, she is so sweet and so comical. The witty moments and the deep ones go back and forth so perfectly. #treehouses you'll see.

As Always, Outstanding Performance

Books by Corinne Michaels have been on my list of must reads since the Salvation series. I've read every book she's written. And I can say most are well crafted. However, I have found myself a tad disappointed in this one, although not enough to make me walk away.
I do appreciate Mrs. Michael's depiction of an abusive marriage as a survivor myself. Her additional portrayal of the effects of alcoholism and child abuse are important aspects I also appreciate. Kudos for her accuracy. Good work there.
Here are the niggling problems with this book. First, I really got a bad feeling about the discovery of our main characters' meeting. They meet in a bar on the eve of her marriage to a man she supposedly cares about and they have a night of passion. And, it happens a week after her parents died in a hit and run car accident- which has never been resolved. And of course neither of our main characters reveals their names for their grand night of passion. All of these scenarios are overused. Really, Corinne? And they meet again through her little girl, who just might be his own. He just happens to arrive at the adjacent farm, in the nick of time.
All of these tropes have been done to death and I can't say I see an improvement in this book. For such a talented writer, I was very surprised by her decision to use worn out styles when she clearly has been gifted with so much more. That is why I've been a devoted fan.
The story had incredible potential but your advisors have let you down as well as your loyal readers.
My advice? Dig deeper.

GET THIS BOOK!

This audiobook was incredible! There was heartbreak, angst and sexy times. This is a second chance read that delt with some heavy topics.

I fell in love with both Elle and Connor. They were completely meant for each other even if it took them a few years to get back to one another.

I am super excited for the rest of this series!

too much internal and not much action

this was an opportunity lost - story line is very good but very very slow. Narration excellent but no matter how good the narrators are they need a good dialog
