Publisher's Summary

Stepping into the world of forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan, star of Kathy Reichs' electrifyingly authentic best sellers.

When innocent blood is spilled, she deciphers the shattering truth it holds.

Nine-year-old Emily Anne Toussaint is fatally shot on a Montreal street. A North Carolina teenager disappears from her home, and parts of her skeleton are found hundreds of miles away. Narration

I am just listening to the full series and have started on book 3 now. I was a bit nervous about this book because of the review on the narrator’s voice and intonation. I quite like Lorelei King’s voice and find her easy to listen to. She also does a great job distinguishing between the different characters with her voice. I am enjoying this book as much as the first two. Good story as always!

Narrator Issues

Great story but I could not get over the narration. Poor accents, weird inflection.
I listened to it once but skipped it the last two times I listened to the series 😬

Complex plot, but worth the read.

I love the intricacies of Kathy Reichs stories, and this one was certainly intricate, with names I couldn't keep straight and a Geordian Knot of events and place names that kept me confused. I speak French so that was not the problem; keeping the improperly pronounced medical terms and French words straight was.
Despite my occasional irritation as described, I REALLY enjoyed this book!

Annoying Narrator

The narrator had a robotic voice and her sentences had an up voice at end of each sentence.

Decent story, poorly performed

What did you love best about Deadly Decisions?

I am a fan of all Kathy Reichs Temperance Brennan books. I especially appreciate audiobooks because I can listen in the car - and I am in the car A LOT.

Would you be willing to try another one of Lorelei King’s performances?

NO - this is an AWFUL listen. I actually considered stopping, because of how poorly it was read. Making your voice louder or softer is not all that is needed to hear the tone, inflection, pacing and pattern of a good book. Spoken pieces should not sound exactly the same as description pieces. This was absolutely an awful listen.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend any of Reich's books read by Linda Emmond or Katherine Borowitz.

More of the same

Oh joy another book where either Tempe’s family or friends is in danger. Terrible plot point and it being the third book for this to happen is getting tiring. I would actually probably give this one 2.5 stars due to the fact that the whole romance side story was non-existent in this book, so I didn’t have to deal with Tempe acting like a 14-year-old girl in this one.

There isn’t really a mystery in this one so much as watching Tempe help the task force dealing with the biker gang violence. There are a few deaths that aren’t what they seem but not what I felt was like true mystery. With Detective Ryan not really in this book – the reader does get to know some of the members of the RCMP in this one which was good.

There is lot of discussion on motorcycle gangs and that part could get a little confusing with all the off-shoots of the main clubs. I did find it kind of interesting. The book is very predictable when it comes to two of the suspects and that drove me nuts that Tempe was pretty blind to obvious answers.

Oddly, I like the series for mysteries and the science, but I just don’t like Tempe as a character.

Very poor narration

The story is as good as her other books, but the very bad attempts at accents by the narrator made it difficult to follow the story. 3rd story in the series and the 3rd narrator. This is the worst narrator I’ve encountered for any of the many books I’ve purchased.

Good story, best reader of the series so far.

I drive 10 hrs a day and keep audible in business LoL.

I hate when the reader in a series is changed this reader has been the best of this series so far.

the story is good I like that Kit plays a major role, but it is a bit more predictable than the first 2.
