Publisher's Summary

From best-selling author Victor Methos comes a gripping, edge-of-your seat thriller in which a group of young friends travel through remote woods in search of the legendary Bigfoot.

Mia is reluctant to go camping with her boyfriend and sister, who are graduate students working on a dissertation about American folklore. But ultimately, they convince her to help document the trip. The group sets off to Black Creek, a remote destination in the Pacific Northwest where Bigfoot has allegedly been sighted. They think they’re prepared for anything, but their sense of terror grows as they find more and more evidence to suggest the monster really is out there. Eventually, Mia realizes she’ll be lucky just to make it out of the woods alive.

Solid tale

An interesting little “Sasquatch” story that has some interesting sound effects and some solid action. Ending is a little lacklustre.

Don’t waste your time

2 hours I will never get back. I’m glad it was free. Even then it wasn’t worth listening to. The story was unoriginal; like listening to the Blair Witch project without the tension.

Unoriginal.. but Enjoyable

This scenario has been done thousands of times before (Three young friends in the remote woods encountering Bigfoot: In this case, a skeptical young woman accompanying a couple of Cryptozoologists investigating reported sightings). Victor Methos does a creditable job establishing characters, setting and atmosphere (and is very good at foreshadowing), but many of the encounters/events feel formulaic. Don't download this looking for something new.

More fortunately, the production standards and narration are excellent. Audible Originals producers exhibit admirable control of Sarah Naughton's natural sibilance (softening hard s's nicely) and add judicious sound effects (wood splintering, the creature howling, etc.)

Altogether I can't give this recording more than 6.5 stars out of 10, but if you're looking for a passable campfire-type "scary" Bigfoot story, this is worth a couple of hours of your time. (Note: I may be biased. It was Free. But even if it weren't, it wouldn't be a complete waste of money/effort.)

Good story, stays true to Sasquatch Lore

Very enjoyable, incorporates lots of suspected sasquatch behaviours into the story and uses them well to build suspense. Voice acting and audio effects were good!

Good, a little thin

It could have done a little more for a novella length book. Still a decent short horror story.

Challenging characters

I couldn't get past the overly bitchy female main characters. I'm sure the story was decent and the voice acting is good but the overly bitchy women in this is what did it for me. No one likes that.

Not the best thing but not bad for free

I downloaded this because it was free and short. It was easy to listen to in the morning while I enjoyed a cup of tea. It wasn't really scary and didn't introduce anything new into the story of Bigfoot. Everything has been done before by other sources and done better. But it was free and a quick listen and wasn't horrible. It was just ok.
