Publisher's Summary

Tess Strebel can’t recognize her own face.

She can’t recognize her home. Her bedroom is unfamiliar. And she can’t remember the handsome stranger lying next to her in bed. A stranger who claims he’s her husband.

Tess reads a letter in her own handwriting, composed during a rare lucid day, explaining her life as it now exists: she was in a terrible car accident one year ago. Every morning, she wakes up unable to remember most of the last decade. Including her own wedding.

Tess has no choice but to accept her new life and hope her memory will return. After all, why should she doubt the letter she wrote to herself? Or the kind man from the wedding photos on her dresser who seems to genuinely care about her well-being?

And then Tess receives a text message on her phone. One that changes everything:

"Don’t trust the man who calls himself your husband."

Fantastic narration and another amazing book by FMcFadden!

The narration for this book was absolutely perfect. It was so convincing and all of her characters’ voices were just spot on. I truly felt like I was reading nonfiction and was feeling so sorry for the main character. I have never listened to a book so quickly before, but I was dying to know what was going to happen. I don’t know how this author does it, but she has all these crazy ideas in her head and every single book she writes is just absolutely perfect lol. That was the 4th one I’ve read in a row by her and tomorrow I will be starting a 5th! If you want a fast-paced domestic thriller that is disturbing but not diabolical, without explicit sex scenes or gratuitous violence, you have to listen to this authors books. They are all excellent!

Really Interesting Premise

I didnt like the narrator at all? she really did this story a disservice. I will probably skip anymore books read by her.

With that being said, this was a really interesting premise. it was executed quite well and had my attention the whole time. this is the first time I have read a story with this kind of plot.

I like how the story unraveled.

good narrator

The story was predictable. It jumped back and forth through different time periods. My least favorite type of story.

Too slow

i found it very slow felt like in a lopp. Every morning waking up with no memory was kind of dragging.

Long … then wrapped up quick

Not the best ending .. the story gave me anxiety because it repeated each day most of the chapters. Then it ended quickly. Not one of Freidas better ones. Wouldn’t pay full price.

Give this one a miss

I love Freida McFadden books, except this one was awful. I had a hard time getting though it. It was boring, the main character was annoying, unsympathetic, and a little stupid. There actually wasn't one character that you cared what happened to them. Do yourself a favour, pick another one of her books.

Narrator RUINED this weird slow storyline

I loved this author in her Housemaid books but this one was a huge fail. It dragged on and on and on. I kept waiting for the twists or turns or just anything interesting but it didn’t come. Even more disappointing than the odd storyline was the performer/reader of this. AWFUL!! The annoyingly weird way she made her voice sound when trying to speak the male lines drove me nuts. It was like when a female is mocking a man and deepens her voice. The performer of a book can absolutely make or break a book, and this performer ruined this book 100%. It was so bad that I’ve written down her name and I refuse to listen to any other audiobook she may perform.
I’d give the storyline and the narrator zero stars if that was possible.
