Publisher's Summary

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Wish comes a poignant love story about risking everything for a dream—and whether it’s possible to leave the past behind.

Colby Mills once felt destined for a musical career, until tragedy grounded his aspirations. Now the head of a small family farm in North Carolina, he spontaneously takes a gig playing at a bar in St. Pete Beach, Florida, seeking a rare break from his duties at home.

But when he meets Morgan Lee, his world is turned upside-down, making him wonder if the responsibilities he has shouldered need dictate his life forever. The daughter of affluent Chicago doctors, Morgan has graduated from a prestigious college music program with the ambition to move to Nashville and become a star. Romantically and musically, she and Colby complete each other in a way that neither has ever known.

While they are falling headlong in love, Beverly is on a heart-pounding journey of another kind. Fleeing an abusive husband with her six-year-old son, she is trying to piece together a life for them in a small town far off the beaten track. With money running out and danger seemingly around every corner, she makes a desperate decision that will rewrite everything she knows to be true.

In the course of a single unforgettable week, two young people will navigate the exhilarating heights and heartbreak of first love. Hundreds of miles away, Beverly will put her love for her young son to the test. And fate will draw all three people together in a web of life-altering connections . . . forcing each to wonder whether the dream of a better life can ever survive the weight of the past.

so disappointed

I usually love Nicholas Sparks books; I’m only on Chapter 10 and couldn’t continue, won’t say why for spoilers but I found it slow, dull and boring

The twist is brilliant.

I loved this book. The twist of intertwining both stories was brilliant. The book kept me guessing right until the end
Thank you

Love the song

Long and at times storyline drawn out. Not a favourite for me. Connected nicely in the end.

have read all of Nocholas Sparks novels. This one was very different and is bottom of the top ten for him hoping the next is more like the others less like this one

Sparks worst book

Talk about a traumatizing book. The story while maybe trying to highlight mental health was really just a emotional roller coaster and really lacked a good story line.

Not recommended

Was looking for a light story. This is so light and weak and annoying that it is hard to get into. Got to chapter 24 so far.

Wow

Less than 24hours published and I finished the audible. One of the best books I have ever heard! The plot is genius and you’ll never guess it. I am speechless! Recommend this audible to anyone!

love it but...

...must admit disappointed with the narrator. His faux country accent and sound of voice does not fit. 🤠😪

such a let down

Such a let down! I like nicholas sparks and his last 2 books were great and I was very excited for this one and it was disappointing. The 2nd story of the book was very confusing and the "love story" wasn't even a love story. Felt like nicholas sparks didn't even write this book as bad as that sounds.

I wanted to love this book, but….

I have always been a huge Nicholas Sparks fan and I wanted to love this book as I have so many of his books before, but this one just wasn’t a five star book. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t a bad book, but I guess this author has us spoiled. I buy every book released by this man and I have drug my husband to every one of his movies on Valentines Day. I have to admit I loved the female counterpart story and I will say no more, because it would ruin the book for others. Colby’s storyline was not as interesting as was Beverly’s. Reading this book was like driving down a beautifully decorated street at Christmas, only to find the street was a cul-de-sac that circled back around. I loved where things were headed, but didn’t like the detour. Sorry to be so vague, but you will understand why, after you read the book for yourself.

Too much detail

I fast forwarded at least half of this book. The details were painful to listen to. Skip this one.

Not my favorite…

I love Nicolas Sparks, but this book was mediocre to say the least. The story was very hard to follow in the beginning and the end I lay got slightly better. The story of Beverly was slightly reminiscent of past characters until all the pieces were tied together. I felt like I was listening to one of his other books when listening about Beverly. The performance was weak. I heard more than one word pronounced incorrectly. Books like this can do without singing as well. It was just weird!

Spellbinder

Really enjoyed this book and the narrators were excellent. I couldn’t “put it down” as they say. Kept my attention throughout. Recommend it highly and the ending is perfect.
