It was fun in a standard power cultivation litrpg way. My only real complaint was some of the people's reactions just felt silly. For example someone might rather stay and be eaten by orc than risk going with a savior, or after being helped immensely begrudging helping out their savior. It was bad enough at times to knock me out of my suspension of disbelief. But for background fluff it works.

The story was enjoyable, made me smile and laugh as he starts to thrive in the new system. Loved the personality of the sidekick :) The narrators performance was absolutely excellent.

The story was good and original as far as the backstory and foreshadowing; setting it up for really good potential. If you get the references, it's a bonus. Characters have good development.

Unfortunately, the reader was not a good match for me. I found the narrator voice fluctuation in volume and speed exaggerated and distracting. I understand that this is a preference for everyone, so my recommendation is to sample it before buying it. Hope it is a good match for you.

(Volume would sometimes be too loud followed by script that I would not be able to hear. I have some bias as I just finished a book that I found perfectly narrated.)

Great narration and pacing. Exciting writing, great story. Listened to a few LITRPG titles and has to be among the best.

I'm left with mixed feelings on the storey. Starts out great overall. A little angrier and with a little more swearing than I prefer but it's consistent with what's happening to people. Decent take on a "system comes to the world". But by the middle of the book I started disliking our main character. felt like we were following the self centered stereotypical rival character from pokemon or beyblades. not a main character, but a rival character who's only purpose is to be someone we don't like and can be set up as and easy person to beat. Eventually by the end of the book the main characters personality straightens out and saved me from putting the book down, actually started to like the guy a bit. But by the end of the book there was no more struggle. He's too OP. has no real challanges. Some stumbling blocks sure, but the big battle that we clearly build up to in the second half isn't really a challange.

BUT the AUDIO was PAINFULL. Seriously. PHYSICALLY PAINFULL. They did a good job with the actual naration. but the volume level was all over the place. Christopher especially would mumble or whisper, to the point where I would have to skip backwards and turn the volume up to catch what was said. Only to suddenly have them start shouting. It's like they expect us to be in a sound studio while we are listening to the whole book so that we can hear the quiet parts while keeping the volume of the loud parts at a reasonable level. I normally listen to everything with open ear headphones, and I had to take breaks from listening to the book just due to the constant fight of being able to hear and then getting my ear drums blown out.

If they fixed the audio in future books I might be tempted to keep listening. But the storey wasn't good enough for me to chance it.
