About this listen

Leo wanted to make something out of himself—and build dams.

However, the world doesn't want dams. And it mostly doesn't want civil engineers. It doesn't want men who do any sort of building or fighting or grand design, it seems.

So, when Leo finds his current girlfriend and boss being threatened by a brutal loan shark and all three of them get dragged through a portal to another world, it doesn't take long for him to decide this is the place for him. Plus, everyone has magic, and who wouldn't want that?

Leo appears in the realm of a fallen kingdom, one that desperately needs someone who will both fight for what's right and build a grand civilization.

Along with his new coterie of friends—a not-quite-a-princess elf and a crippled dragon—Leo must race to build his kingdom before the loan shark Kruegar can finish Leo off with a legion of orcs.

[A litRPG adventure with kingdom-building, base-building, some slice of life, and a whole lot of quipping. Also, an in-depth magic system, leveling options, and an empire chart system. Check out the audiobook that has received over half a million views on RoyalRoad!]

dislike.. the narrators sibilants . the sound of all those s's made it difficult to get into. But his take on the dragons was well done .

Great take on dragons

I think we all have our favourite audiobooks when it comes to LITRPG. We’re always trying to find something in between the void of launch dates to satisfy that itch. I took a gamble on this story and have no regrets. Great narration, world building is good, and the characters are likeable especially Hue the dragon.

Con: I don’t think this is new to anyone who listens to this genre but my god the stat sheets are appallingly long. Especially when Leo gets into the kingdom building, there’s also stats and percentages for that as well. However, I’d say don’t let this 1 x Con that happens in every LitRpg to dismay you from this story. My recommendation is just to just skip those parts.

Great Story

The big lines of the story are fine but the voice acting and some choices of words makes all of it sounda like an amateur project.

good story but poor execution

the story is mildly interesting, but i swear a solid 3 to 4 hours of the 17 hours of time is just reading of tables and charts, the paper version doesn't translate to the audiobook version.

seriously i know all litrpgs go through this, but this one is extra bad, there were times i tried jumping ahead just to learn i skipped over actual story to the next 20 min stat block reading,

hopefully the author leans tables suck

i want to like this book but stop it with the tables

solid litrpg! Just finished book 4, thought I'd come back and leave a review! 5 stars! Very enjoyable! I'll be in for book 5 for sure!

I liked this one a lot!

The story is bad, possibly written by someone who was an outcast in high school and may still be. Gives the main character everything, Two doctorate degrees, a bodybuilder, MMA fighter, experimental researcher providing unlimited water funded by mystery drug cartel. I mean come on, and then summoned into a Elf King. There is a chapter were 15+ minutes were he just reads the ridiculous stats and powers.
Narrator that does the dragon voice is pure hate, he has two voice levels: screaming loud and screaming. I had to turn down the volume everytime he spoke as dragon, towards the end I could not use headphones and ran it through speakers so I could quickly mute it.
Please stay away.
