Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Excellent Ending
A lot of authors get to the end and don't know quite how to wrap things up however this is not the case. The story was great and there were a lot of unexpected moments. I am also glad that someone made the decision to keep this as one 18 hour book and not chop it up into pieces like some of the previous in the series. I truly enjoyed the entire series and I am sure that I will revisit it in the future.

OMFG!!! FANTASTIC!
From start to finish, first book to last, an amazing thrill ride!!! Now my favorite series of all time! The action, humor, characters, ups and downs make Arisen the best series of novels in this genre.
If I could give it 10 stars I would.
I listened to this last one, savoring every word because I didn't want it to end.
The characters are fantastic and over the last few months they have been an integral part of my day. I'm sad these books are over. If I didn't have a plethora of new books waiting, I'd start these all over again.
Hooray and kudos for Mr. Fuchs and another frickin GREAT job by Mr. Bray!

Excellent conclusion to a fantastic series
I have read and listened to a number of zombie stories. Most of which are, as of yet, unfinished and seem unlikely to ever be finished.
This series, however, does have a definite conclusion, and the conclusion that it comes to is satisfying and complete. The series takes you through absolute darkness and despair and you end up on the other side of death, happy and satisfied with the final result.
Well done.

..and then..
This has been one of the most frustrating series I have ever read. It is a great story, well read and with good characters.. but the author totally over uses the 'anything that will go wrong, will go wrong'.. every single half step forward is met with something going wrong and 3 steps backwards.. followed by 20 pages dealing with the issue that went wrong. It makes for an incredible frustrating read. The entire series would have been one of the best series ever had it been 9 or 10 books only. In many places, it just drags on and on and on..

Alright chaps let's leave the armory unguarded
I have two main problems with this book and the series as a whole.
1. I get it it is the Zpoc, but not everything needs to go wrong. We all have heard of Murphy's law but this book imagines it as Robocop himself kicking them in the shins. if there is a tiny crack in a wall better bet your sweet British butt that eight zombies, a terrorist, and the devil himself is coming through that in a chapter or two. Trying to show a slippery slope of panic and haste leading to disaster builds tension, but when everyone is having Murphy personally giving them the shaft it stops becoming tense and starts becoming a Benny Hill comedy hour. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if while aiming at a zombie a man's gun jams then a grenade that he hastily attached to his rig pops off armed while his pants drop the ground in this book.
2. The absolute total incompetence of British forces baring the royal marines. So I get it we are having a power fantasy with alpha team and the royal marines and of course Wesley and his rag tag group. So how do we show how amazing they are? Let's dumb down the rest of the forces. Now I am a civilian I never went into any military branch , but even my over fed, MT.V. riddled mind knows that maybe just maybe we should place armed guard in the one place that has all our ammo and weapons I don't know maybe I'm the Steven Hawkins of military minds. This is not the first time this series pulled this. A few books back when they were working on the spirit bomb to stop the zombies it was unguarded. I mean completely unguarded no fat security guard asking if the person entering was undead or alive not even a broom propped up against the door as a low tech locking mechanism. Look I'm American I'm down with grabbing tea and slam dunking it into the nearest body of water, but when you downgrade not only the British soldiers but their officers to the point that I'm not sure if they can breathe without swallowing their tongues it becomes offensive.
Alright so if you have read this far congrats you received an audible award +25p listened to a rant but let's have some fun and talk about some tropes that are super worn out not only in this book but just in Zpoc books in general ready?
BONUS ROUND! SUPER FUN TIME ZOMBIE TROPES
if there are marines in your book better bet your sweet American big Mac loving ass one of them is gunnery sargent I eat nails and pis s freedom harker.
and the race is off who will win? the shuffling horde of zombies or Dr. James the last doctor on earth who accidently farted in the DNA sequencer and may have found a cure.
Ok this one is from the book guilty I am Russian strong as bear we need scientist for evil world plan comrade. seriously Russians? dude it's not the 1980's lay off the red scare
This is a g 36 with a 16 inch barrel 50 round drum magazine 4 times acog combi sight with underslung grenade launcher, master key, and sword laser sight and does your taxes while telling your ex wife to take a leap firing 5.56 NATO rounds manufactured in Nevada where the guy making the bullet is suffering from chronic heartburn who doesn't make enough to support his gun buying habits. Look it's ok to describe a weapon it is not ok to jerk off on it gums up the action.
This is top of the line military armored tank it has 120mm cannon 8 light machine guns coaxile tow missle system and a line to Jesus himself to bring the wrath of God down on any that approach. "sir that zombie can move at the speed of a medium sized cat!" "Well gentlemen we are dead"
left for read: we got shambling zombies and we got runners but we NEED our special one of a kind only in this book zombie variant be it smart zombies, vampire zombies (looking at you mark tufo) zombies that fly, faster than a speeding bullet can jump over a building in a single bound!
overall super played out should of ended the series four books ago and all these problems would of been way better but after what thirteen books of this I'm done didn't finish this story know how it's going to end crap gets bad the cure is going to almost be used but like parks trips over a broom or a cat attacks him and one of the main characters will die to make sure it's done huzah.
P.S R.C Bray keep at it you sexy man you can describe how to carve a wood figure and I'd listen to it

Just Stop at Book 13 - This Nearly Ruins The Serie
I loved the first 13. Yes, some were slower and "builder" books but "Endgame" feels like a chapter massively drawn out to a whole book.
I'm also harboring a suspicion that this one was ghost written by someone else. There are too many stylistic changes from the previous books: a marked increase the in the "Girl Powah!" awesomeness/dominance of the women characters, way WAY too many "skin of the teeth" escapes and and ending that was never in doubt.
I also took exception to the negative portrayal of the "Texas Colonel". Pretty much the only negative portrayal of anyone (outside the Russians) in the entire series.
I ended up forcing myself to finish this one, on the outside chance something interesting/unexpected would happen.
If you like the series, quit at 13 - you can figure out pretty much 95% of what's going to happen without touching Book 14.

Wtf
SPOILERS
In a series filled to the brim with outstanding cabinets and severe bad luck, this one ruins the whole experience for me. Mainly the circumstances surrounding Handon and Sarah.
Up until the moment Handon orders her to die, all of Alpha had been making compromises just like the ones they had admonished her for. Just like the ones Handon got crap for.
More than half the book he talks about alpha’s humanity and fighting for their souls and in the eleventh hour he sacrifices his pregnant girlfriend, instead of, like Ali and Homer did for each other or Predator did for those random people and juice for him, Handon doesn’t even make the attempt to save her. That’s crap.
Impossibly stupid bad things happen in these books, but this one he writes as happening by design. Lots of deus ex crap happens but there’s none in sight for this.
Ruins it.

Great Ending For A Great Series
Arisen is the best zombie book series I've had the pleasure of listening to. Each main and secondary character is so well written that you feel like they're real people, thus giving the listener an emotional attachment to them. This book, Endgame, is the best of them all. The final battle left me on edge as the events played out, and the ending was perfect. Also, R.C. Bray does a fantastic job of bringing each character to life in his reading of this epic finale.

this is definitely one of the best series that I have listened to. from beginning to end there was action, emotion and just plain silliness! I wish there was some way this could be made into a movie. I definitely recommend this entire series to anyone who's looking for a good zombie apocalypse end of the world read!
