Jerry Seinfeld - foreword
À propos de cet audio
The man who brought the kavorka to the Seinfeld show through one of the most remarkable and beloved television characters ever invented, Kramer, shares the extraordinary life of a comedy genius—the way he came into himself as an artist, the ups and downs as a human being, the road he has traveled in search of understanding.
“The hair, so essential, symbolizes the irrational that was and is and always will be the underlying feature not only of Kramer but of comedy itself. This seemingly senseless spirit has been coursing through me since childhood. I’ve been under its almighty influence since the day I came into this world. I felt it all within myself, especially the physical comedy, the body movements, so freakish and undignified, where I bumped into things, knocked stuff down, messed up situations, and often ended up on my ass.
“This book is a hymn to the irrational, the senseless spirit that breaks the whole into pieces, a reflection on the seemingly absurd difficulties that intrude upon us all. It’s Harpo Marx turning us about, shaking up my plans, throwing me for a loop. Upset and turmoil is with us all the time. It’s at the basis of comedy. It’s the pratfall we all take. It’s the unavoidable mistake we didn’t expect. It’s everywhere I go. It’s in the way that I am, both light and dark, good and not-so-good. It’s my life.”—Michael Richards, from Entrances and Exits

Stephen A. Smith has never been handed anything, nor was he an overnight success. Growing up poor in Queens, the son of Caribbean immigrants and the youngest of six children, he was a sports-obsessed kid who faced struggles, from undiagnosed dyslexia to getting enough cereal to fill his bowl. As a basketball player at Winston-Salem State University, he got a glimmer of his true calling when he wrote a newspaper column arguing for the retirement of his own Hall of Fame coach, Clarence Gaines.

John Gotti was without a doubt the flashiest and most feared Mafioso in American history. He became the boss of the Gambino Crime Family in spectacular fashion—with the brazen and very public murder of Paul Castellano in front of Sparks Steakhouse in midtown Manhattan in 1985. Not one to stay below law enforcement’s radar, Gotti instead became the first celebrity crime boss. His penchant for eye-catching apparel earned him the nickname “The Dapper Don;” his ability to beat criminal charges led to another: “The Teflon Don.”

A great memoir
This is a magnificent memoir. Compelling and even touching at times. A portrait of a tortured artist and a highly complex man. Lots of Seinfeld stories for fans of that show of course but this book goes way beyond that. And it addresses the CONTROVERSY head on. Richards offers an explanation but does not offer excuses. There are many who simply will not accept anything from Richards, writing him off as a cartoonish racist. This is far from the truth but this is the world we live in now. Those who never stop demanding apologies from those who make a wrong step are the last people who will actually accept those apologies, no matter how sincere. Richards now seems at peace with himself. That's a great thing and his is a great story.
As for the audiobook, Richards does not read or recite the book as much as he performs it. It is so authentic. Simply one of the best memoirs have listened to.

Beautiful and Heart wrenching delivery and recount of past life events.
I can’t express how much I loved hearing Michael’s voice read this book to me via audiobook. Learning the story behind his beginnings, hardships and trauma experienced by he and his Mother, brought me to tears. The laughter and joy this man has brought to the world over the years, is immeasurable. Im so grateful to have been able to witness not only his on screen performances, but the creation and delivery of this book. Loved every second of it, highly recommend this to any fan of not only the Seinfeld show, but those of you who have struggled through impossible times… this will help you realize that you aren’t alone in your struggle. ❤️

A story about a man you thought you knew
I absolutely love this book. He gave me an insight into the man Michael Richards is… the human being, the larger than life character of Cosmo Kramer.
This book may not be for everybody as Michael is a little bit more of a artist then one might assume. He ponders the questions about life, the universe and our existence.. and walk you through his process of finding and grounding the character that we all love so much.
Thank you for such a beautiful book and sharing this with the world. And I wish him nothing but love, peace, and happiness.
Giddy up!

A great read!
It was like coming home reading Michael Richard's book. Loved hearing about the bond you still have with Jerry. A loyal friend. When the incident happened during your stand up I didn't care to read anything that was said about that night. I feel like I know your heart so I didn't pay attention to any of the gossip. Glad to see you back. I was also happy to heat about your family and your amazing home.
❤️ Much love from a fan!
