About this listen

Knives Out and Clue meet Agatha Christie and The Thursday Murder Club in this “utterly original” (Jane Harper), “not to be missed” (Karin Slaughter), fiendishly clever blend of classic and modern murder mystery.

“A witty twist on classic whodunits… Stevenson not only 'plays fair,' he plays the mystery game very, very well.”—Maureen Corrigan, Washington Post

Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate.

I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

Have I killed someone? Yes. I have.

Who was it?

Let’s get started.

Interesting format. Kept me listening but wish I’d played along more and wrote down what he’d said near the beginning on timeline, just for fun.

Neat.

It kept us guessing. I love the sarcasm and the dark humor. I love the references in the 2nd book and can't wait to listen to more.

This book has quickly surpassed my long line of favorites. The writing style is so unique in a way that makes you feel like you are friends with the narrator. The narration was done perfectly. I couldn't find anything wrong with this fantastic book. highly recommended!

It stands out for the broken 4th wall, enjoyed the pace and plot. Will definitely look for another novel by this author.

I found the beginning was a little slow but once it started I was pulled right into it.

Murder mystery with a twist.

a guy who writes manuals on how to write murder mysteries ends up having to solve a murder mystery. The story's very engaging. I like the way he lays out the clues. he lists a bunch of rules that he must follow to make a decent who done it. and then he follows them. Even at that, there's still an unexpected twist.

the story is very good. the layout's good. the characters are interesting. The only negative thing I have to say is the Australian accent sometimes makes it hard to understand. like he must have said peering 15 times before I realized he was not saying peeing.

a very good whodunit that avoids all the bad things of other whodunits

Such a good book!
As a person with ADHD the way this book was written and narrated was absolutely amazing!
Some of the twists I saw coming and some completely blindsided me!
I'm new to this author, but cannot wait to try something else from his library!
