Story
Maddison James is about to discover some truths about the world. Firstly...supernaturals exist. WTF? Secondly...she is one, even though no one seems to know exactly what kind. Double WTF. Thirdly...she’s about to go back to school. Well, things just got a little more interesting. The Supernatural Academy is where shifters, vampires, magic users, and fey are educated. Where they are taught about their abilities, and how to function in the human world. Maddison already has the human part down, but this supernatural thing is an entirely new dangerous game.

Maddison James learned a lot about life last year. Only important stuff, of course. Like how to breathe under water, how to turn an arrow into a weapon, and how to fall in love. Asher Locke. The one who stole her heart. The one who showed her the truth of her past and...hopefully her future. Now, it's just time for them to live happily ever after. Only the gods have different plans. And with Atlantis rising, Maddi isn't sure she'll survive long enough to even finish her second year, let alone have any sort of future.

Four dangerous, damaged, messed-up boys. There used to be five, but one of them died, and I’m starting to suspect he was murdered. I didn't ask for this. No one would ask to be played, manipulated, seduced, and betrayed. But that’s what happened, anyway. It wasn’t enough for them to break me. Sebastian Beckett has decided that he can’t let me go, but I refuse to forgive and forget his betrayal so easily. His fixation is bordering on obsession, but when we begin to suspect a spy within Delta, there’s no time to deal with his feelings.

There used to be five, but one of them died, leaving a fifth position that I now fill. I didn't ask for this. I didn't want to be part of this billionaire-boys-club. New town, new school. Same story. I'm Laura, I've spent most of my life crisscrossing the county yielding to the whims of my transient mother. We've never stayed in one place long enough to call it home, and I don't have any hope of that changing. I follow the rules; no drawing attention to myself, no friends, and especially, no boys.

Publisher's Summary
Brielle Atwater isn't sure of much, but she knows a few things:
- Having black wings is not normal.
- Selling her soul to the demons was a mistake.
- Lincoln Grey is the biggest asshole she's ever met...but not falling in love with him might prove impossible.
When angels fell from the sky to war with the demons that ravaged Earth, their combined powers infected humanity. Now, the humans are assigned one of two fates, being either demon-gifted or angel-blessed.
After wings sprout from Brielle's back at her awakening ceremony, she's sure she's an angel-blessed celestial. It's not until she sees black wings that she realizes something is terribly wrong.
Having sold her contract at a young age to save her father's life means she should be bound for Tainted Academy. That is, until a fallen angel unexpectedly fights for her to be accepted into Fallen Academy, the elite school for those who inhabit Angel City.
She's immediately matched with her impossibly handsome celestial teacher, Lincoln Grey. Laying eyes on him, her first thought is that her time at the academy might actually be fun, but this theory quickly fades when she and Lincoln clash on day one. To further prove her admission into Fallen Academy is cursed, the entire school is thrown into chaos when an Abrus demon reveals that he knows Brielle's secret. Now, above all else, Lincoln must fight to protect her.
To his surprise, the only thing more difficult than trying to save her...is trying not to fall for her.

Great Listen
I was very happy with this book. it had a great storyline and I was especially happy how it started without much or any swearing but I was dissapointed that as it progresses the language did too and was no longer "fricken" but the actual "f-word". Otherwise I would've given 5 stars.

How did I not know about this author sooner!?
Finished this book so fast. I could not put it down, every chance I got I would listen. I haven’t had that experience with a book for a long time. It kept my interest and wanting to keep reading to find out more around some of the mysteries. With each question answered there were new questions that came up. I love when authors do this, they reveal pieces so you feel satisfied that you’re getting answers and moving through the story but all the mystery and intrigue is still there. In my opinion this is a balancing act and was done very well in this book.

Not impressed
So predictable from the minute her wings turn black...I mean really was there any where else this story could have gone?
The worst part was the way it wrapped up after the ‘ big meeting’, then we get everything else that has built through the story tied up in a summary that seems more like a text than a finalized chapter. It did not leave me with a sense of a cliffhanger plot twist wanting more...I was just bored.
Sometimes I become fooled be authors with multiple books, and the label Only from Audible, forgetting this can simply be a fancy way of saying self- published.

Narration was awful
I could get through the story, but the poor narration made it a lot harder. The forced distinct character voices were so bad that they ruined any immersion in the scenes. The male voices were especially forced and sounded like a child pretending to be an angry man, with a growling tone. If the narrator wasn't good at voices, she should not have done them at all.

Decent YA Novel
Not much to say really. its a decent YA novel with an interesting theme. Kind of your same old: main character is super special for some reason, they go to a school, there's a rivalry with 1 other classmate for no real good reason, there's a love interest, there's an evil force to fight against.
the author plays around with those tropes well enough for it to be interesting. worth the $5 sale price i paid.

Love the book, but unsure about the narrator
This book is pretty great. I bought it on a whim and am not disappointed! The author provides multi dimensional characters and a good amount of world building which is a huge plus in my book. The only thing that bothered me about the audiobook was the performance. The narrator would switch between saying "arch" and "arc" when saying things like "archangel". Also, I swear I heard her multiple times saying "Logan" instead of "Lincoln" for one of the main characters. It was a bit infuriating but once you get past the narrator's mistakes the story is really excellent.

Great performer, ok book
This was an alright book nothing to rave about outside of the narrator. Vanessa did the voice of Willa in The Curse of the God series and she continues to do an amazing job. The main character of the novel is very generic. She’s super over powered and of course “special”. It was annoying how she couldn’t stop thinking about how hot the boys are at the academy. I didn’t really feel like there was a connection between her and Lincoln. They hate each other one moment and then we are suppose to believe they start liking each other in a time jump after a “few” months have gone by. It was a very generic story line. I wouldn’t recommend wasting a credit on this novel. It had so much potential.
