Harrison Phillip Fletcher III isn't supposed to be here. Not in Burlington, Vermont, not running Vino & Veritas, a quaint inclusive bookstore and wine bar, and definitely not still alive, at 42. Also not supposed to be here? An unexpected delivery of chickens.

Finn Barnes knows chickens. The burly organic farmer knows all about rare breed poultry, but dealing with a hot older bookseller is an entirely different matter. City-slicker types like Harrison never end up staying in Vermont for the long-term.

They should steer clear of each other. But the flare of attraction is mutual. And somehow amid book discussions and farm tours, they discover plenty in common. Now they're stealing kisses in Finn's barn, sneaking out like teens, and burning up the sheets.

What starts as a fling brings very real feelings for two lonely souls, but a future together seems as unlikely as chickens in a bookstore. Feathers may be flying, but learning to trust takes time neither may have. Can they take a leap of faith together before it's too late?

Narration felt so ruched on Finn’s side I almost gave up.
Dialogues were so hard to follow…
Story is good , but I just could not enjoy it … I think I will buy it to read instead of audio.

the book is fine. a lot of cute moments, but it never felt truly "light" in tone. Harrison is a grump, and not the good kind. and the relationship really doesn't seem to work. the book kept emphasizing how this was an obstacle but never actually addresses it.

Sweet and spicy. Excellent narration, I thought it was spot on for both characters. The female voice could use some work but I'm not complaining! I enjoyed this book a lot.

The performance wasn't so bad that I stopped listening but one was SO rushed - not only the speed but it felt like a slew of run-on sentences. And the fluctuation in Alex's/Finn's voice was over the top. In contrast, Kirt's/Harrison's voice was a good pace and though I don't really like the pompous tone he had I understand that it's part of the character. If they had both been fast it might have been easy to simply slow down the player speed, but with the difference and the run-on sentences, that wasn't the case. The story was fine and had a lot of cute, teasing moments.
