Publisher's Summary

Gwen's never wanted to be a leader, but when no one else stepped up, she took on the role. As the mayor of post-apocalyptic Shreveport, she's made decisions to protect her people...and most of them have backfired disastrously.

When she discovers the dangerous gold dragon lurking outside of the fort has decided she's his mate, heartsick Gwen thinks the best thing she can do is confront him and take him far away from the city.

She does this to save her people - her sister, her friends, her fort. She doesn't expect to understand the dragon. She certainly doesn't expect to fall in love.

Contains mature themes.

adorable thunder and lightning it's a great time

these two are adorable and the amount of time spent not understanding each other and wishing to is amazing and I like how far they show the dragons are capable going if they want to to learn the language it's implied in the first book that Kyle chooses not to learn it and in this book is made heavily clear it's adorable and new dangers approach very excited for the nextbook.
as usual I would highly recommend

MC is so unlikeable

Honestly, I love the idea that she was going to make a character of colour just to make her so unlikeable and weak. This book sucks compared to the others.

so far my least favorite...

Gwen, the female main character is so dumb...
Vaun was patient and the story was just too silly ...

This book was the slowest of the series so far but at the end we get a glimpse of a bigger story

Again a story of a male dragon looking for a female human mate, this was the slowest of the series took them until almost the end of the book to mate and finally talk to each other. Most redeemable thing about this book is that we get a little more storyline at the end of the book. Hopefully the next one gets better!

I will pass on this one if I was you

The weakest of the series so far very unlikeable main character very whiny and nothing happened until the 2/3 of the book.

Poor leadership role

For a woman being in a leadership role and scared to make any decision. She frustrats you that she makes no decision. Or that people literally have to force to make a decision. Even mating with her mate near the end of the book. She loves him so much but still is nervous in mating. I was not happy with this book because the female character is so weak.

Another excellent listening experience

Fire in his Spirit is book 5 of the series and continues the growing number of Dragons finding their mate, growing the storyline. As always with Ruby Dixon you'll find the same steamy sex and a HEA. This book focuses on Gwen and Vaughn. The Narrators continue their outstanding performances. Loved it!
