Story
The galaxy follows a logical structure. Legion Dark Operator Kel Turner believed that. To know the order of battle and how an enemy unit was organized was to know its purpose and how to destroy it. That logic existed down to the smallest scale, down to what made up life itself. To know a molecule’s structure was to know its function - they were one and the same. It was no different for Kel. He was Dark Ops and Dark Ops was him. But the covert action arm of the Legion is changing. And so is he. And if Dark Ops is no longer the same, how could Kel be Kel?

This series just keeps getting better!
The second book keeps up the action packed story from the first book and does a great job in the development of the characters and the Ruins universe(s)! Very well written and thoroughly enjoyable. My only disappointment came when the book ended. Looking forward to Book 3!
RC Bray is his usual awesomeness. He takes an excellent story and delivers an incredible performance.

It's Even Better Than the Last!
Holy splick!
I didn't think Hopper and Chaney could outdo themselves, but they did.
And, R.C. Bray? Playa, please.
Don't get me wrong. Book 1 was awesome, but this one is several steps up in quality of storying telling and pacing. Maybe it's more like they had to set up the universe in book one, and then this was is pedal-to-the-metal, hold on tight installment? Either way, I love it.
I really like the serialized storytelling. It feels more like I'm binge-watching a new TV series than ready stand-alone books. This is a cool new approach, and one I hope catches on.
Lots of great action in this one too. As Hopper says in the Author's Note section, he and Chaney were definitely inspired by military history, and it shows. And yet they managed to balance it well with Awen's continuing story in metaspace.
More like this gents, please! The people have spoken.

I forgot I preordered this and man am I glad I did
I got the email that this came out and holy cow, what a pleasant surprise! I'm already halfway done (I work night shift) and I'm on the edge of my seat. J.N. Chaney's books are always the best in the genre and this series is no different. His Renegade Star series (and the many spinoffs) pulled me back in to audiobooks last year, so I always pick up the newest thing he puts out. Thank you to both Chaney and Hopper for writing yet another excellent series. I am over the moon excited about this surprise gift.

now that's what I'm talking about
Bray really brings this series to life! Honestly, book 1 had me hooked, but I wasn't sure the second book would be as good. Thankfully, it's even better. I can't wait to see where this storyline goes and what Magnus gets up to later. I strongly suggest picking this up if you liked book 1. It's amazing!

We Want More! We Want More!
I really liked book one. A lot. And I was worried this series might go the way of others that started out brightly only to turn into a ball of flames by book two. Nope. Not these guys. Action, adventure, real character dev—how do you do it? Dah! Listened to it in one sitting. Yup. My hat is off to Christopher Hopper, JN Chaney, and RC Bray. You guys have captured my imagination. Please and thank you.
When's the next book out? Tomorrow? Perfect, thanks. I'm there.

"very good" -- Ron Swanson (probably)
Ron Swanson would reward this at the coveted "very good" level. Such sci-fi series are hard to find, and I suspect it's simply because they're hard to write. Like TV shows that are past their useful shelf life, so many of the sci-fi series I start lately all too quickly become drudgery because I quit caring about the characters, as too much focus is given to the mundane. Not so, here, as the character development continues nicely, and there's plenty of interesting future tech thought showing through that is described just enough to keep it interesting and within the realm of the "someday" possible.
And, as for the beautiful bouncing bearded Bobby Bray, he delivers once again. I don't know who chose the voicing for the robot TO96, but the choice and presentation keeps upsetting my wife because I start laughing out loud at 3 in morning lying in bed listening to well crafted and delivered snark.

Yeah, it's even better than the first book
The story is both interesting and fun and RC Bray is just phenomenal. I've now got RC Bray's voices in my head so, since I don't want to wait, I will buy the kindle version, listen to the voice synthesizer read it to me (I'll still kinda hear Bray's version in my head) as I drive or do chores, then buy the audio version, when it comes out, for repeated listens. Yup. It's that much fun. I'l pay for both.
