Publisher's Summary

Prince Dutiful has been rescued from his Piebald kidnappers and the court has resumed its normal rhythms. There FitzChivalry Farseer, gutted by the loss of his wolf bondmate, must take up residence at Buckkeep as a journeyman assassin.

Posing as a bodyguard, Fitz becomes the eyes and ears behind the walls, guiding a kingdom straying closer to civil strife each day. Amid a multitude of problems, Fitz must ensure that no one betrays the Prince’s secret - one that could topple the throne: that he, like Fitz, possesses the dread "beast magic." Only Fitz’s friendship with the Fool brings him solace. But even that is shattered when devastating revelations from the Fool’s past are exposed. Bereft of support and adrift in intrigue, Fitz finds that his biggest challenge may be simply to survive.

Boring

This book was a total waste of time. Superficial, no story of plot. I was disappointed and will not follow with the next book.

Take a pass

Found it very boring. Storyline never really went anywhere. A lot of repetitive narrative.

Love the series and the narrator

Okay. I am nearly 70 & would tell you I don't like fantasy! (Couldn't get into Harry Potter.)However, Fool's Errand was free book of July, and I am hooked on this series! Just bought the third.

Mediocre, should have quit after the first series

Couldn't even finish. It's ok for your protagonist to be dumb when he's a young boy or teenager but when it's a 35 year old man who is a trained assassin it's just ridiculous. Should have just quit after the first series

Just incredible

I am continually in awe at the writing talent of Robin Hobb. She is an absolute master of the craft. This book gripped me from the start and didn’t let go. I love hearing about Fitz and his adventures. I can’t wait for more.

Delectable

There are so many story arcs, some of which resolve and others lead me inexorably to the next. The narrator has a compelling voice and tone though I sometimes dislike the female voices. Completely worth the time and utterly enjoyable.

shocked

I loved the first trilogy and the last book was great. this one was a shocking disappointment. very little has happened to progress the story. the was no climax in this book. many of the main characters choices were dubious. really leaves a sour taste.
