Publisher's Summary

The Manipulator

I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me.

I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh.

But my words don't affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave.

He's always there, watching and waiting.

And I can never look away.

Not when I want him to come closer.

The Shadow

I didn't mean to fall in love.

But now that I have, I can't stay away.

I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves.

The way she undresses...

I'll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine.

And once she is, I'll never let her go.

Not even when she begs me to.

While not required, it is highly suggested to listen to the novella Satan's Affair first.

Author's Note: This book ends on a cliff-hanger. For CWs, please check the author's website.

The Edge Lord

Oh boy, this was a struggle. Not for any of the content, I didn't really get to hear much cause I gave up halfway through chapter 6. the parts with Adaline were good, but her counterpart?

Edge Lordiest Edgelord to ever Lord over an Edge.

I got the author trying to make him dangerous, but come on, he can just take out 12 guys in a fight, and he's the best hacker ever.

The author should go read Misery and see what makes a single individual actually scary and dangerous and not coming off as a 15 year olds power fantasy.

Dark, smut and so interesting

Obsessive stalker at first glance. It was a dark romance with some potentially triggering scenes but I loved it. Leaves on a cliff hangar but the second book might be better, with more character development. 18+

Disgusting

TRIGGER WARNING :
This book heavely implies rape or rape fetishes.
I didn’t finish this book and I won’t.
I can’t explain how disgusting the story is…
I should’ve read the reviews on this book.
Don’t purchase this. The narrators were ok and I don’t blame them for this so I had to give 4 stars for the performance.

book-tok let down

I have never been more disappointed in my entire life. I love dark romance and this was so boring.

no plot. two story lines and no real plot and nothing happens.

Zade stalks her for the entire book, even once they are together, minimal smut and a cliff hanger.

for the amount of coverage this book gets on the internet I was expecting to have my life changed and a very satisfying book hangover. nothing of the sort.

could have been a novella.

Maybe dark romance isn’t for me

Don’t get me wrong, I can get behind red flags, but I just can’t find it in me to think that sexual assault is hot, especially sexual assault with a foreign object. I might’ve been able to appreciate the book more if that scene wasn’t there, but it set the tone of their relationship and made me feel super gross and uncomfortable. Considering how many women are SA’d at some point in their lives, myself being one of them, I think this might be a hard pill for survivors to digest so just be aware of that if you are considering this series.

The other thing that really threw me is that Zade devotes his life to saving women and children from sex trafficking yet he turns around and subjects this woman to many of the same horrors those victim’s experience. How is he any different than those he fights against when he robs Adeline of choice/consent under the threat of violence? It is the Grand Canyon of plot holes.

Overall, I think the writing was decent and the voice acting was alright. Zade literally sounds like a sinister creep so the voice was spot on there. If this style is up your alley, I imagine you’d like it, but for my fellow readers who like their spice rough but consensual, I’d pass on this one.

Such a different take on dark romance

⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5 Plot
🌶🌶🌶🌶/5 Spicy
💃💃💃.5/Characters

I had no idea what this book would be, but it exceeded my expectations.

I only ended up reading this book because Teddy Hamilton was narrating. He's an automatic click for me. The way he brought Zade to life, it was just magical.

This book is not for the faint of hearts. It is incredibly dark and a little disturbing. Please read the trigger warnings from the author's website. It follows our heroine, Adeline, moving into her grandmother's old home that feels haunted. She starts getting stalked by Zade. However, she finds herself getting attached to him. Their chemistry is unmatched, and he is a hero in his own right. The book ends on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to listen to the next. This isn't five stars for me because of the non-con. It was a little much for me at one point, but I'm glad I didn't give up.

Intense

TW listen to them cause man, I thought I was prepared for this book I was not.
the author writes so beautifully and with so much detail that I found myself almost having panic attacks at the intense parts. the action is so well set up that you're waiting for it.I grew to like Zane a lot more than I thought I would, still not 100% on the whole stalking thing, but liking where this is heading. I'm deffiently going to check out book 2. I just might read some fluff in between as like a pallet cleanser.

Wow!!

One of the best thrillers I’ve ever read (listened to). The performances were amazing. The story line…INCREDIBLE.
This novel was not always easy to listen to because it touches on a lot of sensitive subjects. It has a lot of violence, graphic sex descriptions, and child exploitation.
If you can get through it, you will be begging for another novel.

Loved every second

1st: if you are under 25 don't even bother with this book. I say this because yes it's aimed at adults 18+ but really it's for 21+ and because this is realistic I believe you need to have experience and know that this series is FILLED with dangerous red flags and is everything your Mama and Nana warned you about and your Papa will defend you against and your priest will make you say countless Hail Mary's.

2nd: Trigger warnings galore! If you are sensitive or don't like certain things don't even think about listening / reading this book. examples of content: gun play, stalking, non-con, forced confine, sex ring, underage SA & sacrifices.... just to name a few.

with that over with....
YES YES YES!!! The narrators were beyond amazing. Their voices were perfect it was like a movie not a book. Just loved the overall feel they brought / delivered.

storyline.

Love it on all levels. It's a full on dark romance combined with mystery / crime.

The Manipulator Addie, her strength and independence is amazing but how her body defies her senses is a fun adventure.

The Shadow Z, his job is admirable and the way he uses his knowledge of how he can come and go likes shadow in the night and manipulate the Manipulator .... oh my.

I love the character spiderweb connectivity and the continuous mind games the author leads us down.

10/10 recommend it but ONLY if you are able to hande listed and unlisted trigger warnings. this is NOT your traditonal Mafia romance or enimies to lovers. This is Haunting. .... onto Hunting now.

Seriously, check those TWs. Not for the faint of ❤

Okay so this book is definitely for mature adults... 21+. And the trigger warnings need to be taken seriously. This is a full on dark stalker romance with some murder mystery elements. A lot of darker themes are tackled here and as a reader you need to be smart about knowing what you're walking into. I disagree with the sheer number of poor reviews on this book strictly due to the fact that the readers were unprepared for the disturbing and dark content.

I am rating this book 4 stars because the plot and story are very intriguing. Not to mention the cliffhanger at the end which had me beside myself. Some of the sexual content in this book was tough for me to read, I just don't think stalkers are sexy but Zade did grow on me as the book progressed but I still found the romance tough to swallow. The murder of her great grandmother was such a cool addition to the plot. I found her little journal entries to be riveting and the fact that Adaline had more going on than just her stalker made the character feel more rounded.

This is not a book I'd recommend you read at night. It gets spooky and eerie at points which could give you some effed up dreams. Don't say I didn't warn you!

okay, listen.

I've read the book series twice. (if you like super dark and kinky stuff thatll make you question your mental well being, this is for you!)

-but let me tell you!!!! the MOMENT I heard my man Teddy's voice being the narrator, it didn't matter if I've read the series or not. I HAD to buy the audiobook. I need this man to narrate my life.

Incredible, but mind the TWs.

Mind those TWS! they're not for show.

Absolutely fantastic book, I cannot wait for the next installment. I think I might just buy the actual book so I'll get to know what's gonna happen, I don't know of I can wait. S tier performance by Teddy Hamilton and Michelle Sparks as per usual. It was as terrifying as it was tantalizing and I may never recover. I usually HATE books ending on a cliffhanger, but this feels earned somehow.

Overall incredible. Just, be sure you're not getting in to something you'll feel bad about, some of this stuff is pretty gnarly.

Very “Twilight”-esque Plot with romanticized stalking

the book can be split up into three parts: 1, crazy stalker; 2, learning more about crazy stalker, 3, falling in love with crazy stalker. The author tries to make you like the stalker even though everything he does is very similar if not the same to the exact people he’s supposed to be stopping... by the time Adeline started falling in love with Z, he had already done so much messed up stuff to her while thinking what he was doing, was justifiable, but at the same time, Z was disgusted by, and actively working to thwart pedophile, human traffickers, and rapists. He stalks her, rapes her, sexually assaults her, manipulates her and more. By the time she started falling in love with him, I already hated him, and saw no justification for the way he treated her. His character is irredeemable.

Separately, I had an issue with the way the male voice actor said “pussy“. It always sounds like he saying poo-sea lmao

Some interesting elements but fairly juvenile

This author could develop into a real talent but this reads a bit like fan fiction. She does write great angry sec scenes and their attraction was intriguing. Plot elements were were pretty cliche and very Qanon. That could be ok if better executed.

A Q anon wet dream

I’m a fan of dark romance but this is beyond me. The guy and his organization and goals just reek of q anon propaganda. His code name is literally Z while taking down the government. Also he’s just a massive self contradiction, fighting against human trafficking and sex crimes while actively stalking a woman and assaulting her. The book does acknowledge this but it remains a paradox.

2 stories in 1. And they don’t mesh!

Really really wanted to love this book!
And I did. Except I loved one of the stories. The one with the dark anti hero stalking and getting closer to his victim. The haunting, the mystery. I loved the Dubious Consent thing.

BUT!
There’s a parallel story where our dark knight is also a hero chasing pedophiles, witch, u know, is a good thing!
The problem is that these seem like 2 stories and the author couldn’t choose.
The hero fighting trafficking of kids and women just doesn’t mesh with the anti hero.

This should have been 2 separate books!

Also, unfortunately, the parts about pedophiles flaunts the false craziness that basically every rich person or person in government are pedophiles, except of course the extremely rich hero trying to crush the pegophile rings…

Pedophelia is one of the worst crimes out there but… The books idea about how pedofile rings work are just weird and wrong in so many ways. (Look, I’ve worked with these issues!!!)
And by doing so it actually hinders us from seeing real pedofiles, the people living next door that we like and so on, the teacher, the friendly guy in church, the one who doesn’t look like a predator.

So, had it been the haunting, the dark anti hero and the roses this book would have been a 5!!!!

Unfortunately the author didn’t have a good publisher who could have made this 2 different books (and helped sort out the “the entire government are pedofiles” thing)

I wish someone could just sort the book out!
I would have loved to love it!

One of the most preposterous, stupid books EVER.

This was by far one of the stupidest books I've ever read. The author is trying so hard to be edgy and just sounds like someone who has some sick fantasies. She needs to get out more. There's not a stalking victim out there who would be turned on by this misyoganist weirdo. Had she any actual life experience she'd understand this. It's not edgy, it's bizzare ideation. Why would some sicko want to make a innocent woman feel fear and torture, but have all this empathy for the other victims of trafficking? It makes absolutely no sense that he's trying to woo her with threats and putting severed hands on her doorstep yet he cares so much if one of the trafficked girls see any blood. Then Addie is getting off on the whole situation, there's not a stalking victim on the planet with this reaction. Oh, and she runs around with a kitchen knife while living in the state of Washington which is a conceal carry state thinking she's going to stab this dude who has murdered her big one night stand criminal boyfriend and has cut his hands off. Any normal person would be looking into going to the range and getting a weapon since the cops seem unable or willing to help. It's so mind numbingly preposterous I don't even remember if she calls the cops to report the severed hands. If she did, I guess the event didn't make it to the 7 PM news. Nothing adds up in this silly book. I've quit halfway thru, life is too short for purient, garbage. The woman reading the book is decent, the guy just sounds like he's trying to sound like a thug from the Bronx or something. His overacting is repulsive sounding, not sexy. I'm definately going to ask for a refund which is a rarity for me. Don't waste you're hard earned money on this dribble.
