This illuminating book , read by the author is incredibly detailed and sometimes confusing for the nonhistorian readers. The Shakespearean image of Henry that we all know from his great soliloquy at Agincourt becomes complicated by his warmongering, ruthlessness and obsession with ruling France which in the end was his downfall. The story is a repeated warning to leaders who think their reach should exceed their grasp.

Fantastic Cap Stone to the Dan Jones Trilogy; the missing middle chapter between the Plantagenets and the Hollow Crown, which ties early English history to the Disaster of the War of the Roses. Jones gives a thrilling immediacy to the King who bridged the gap and set the stage for a new world in the late Middle Ages. Lovely narration and a joy to follow along.
