Story
Burnout. Many women in America have experienced it. What’s expected of women and what it’s really like to be a woman in today’s world are two very different things - and women exhaust themselves trying to close the gap between them. Sisters Emily Nagoski, PhD, and Amelia Nagoski, DMA, are here to help end the cycle of feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Instead of asking us to ignore the very real obstacles and societal pressures that stand between women and well-being, they explain with compassion and optimism what we’re up against - and teach us how to fight back.

How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t is a straight-shooting self-improvement guide for women, one that offers frank advice about the most common self-destructive behaviors women engage in. Andrea Owen—a nationally sought-after life coach—crystallizes what’s behind several invisible, undermining habits, from catastrophizing and people-pleasing to listening to the imposter complex or to one’s inner critic. Powerfully on the mark, the chapters are short and digestible, nicely bypassing weighty examinations in favor of punch points of awareness.

Story
When Jenna Kutcher was 22, she left her corporate job, bought a camera on Craigslist for $300, and started her own business as a wedding photographer. From that single investment in herself, she built a successful company, a thriving podcast, a brand. But her driving force is never about working harder/smarter/faster/better. What Jenna Kutcher embraces is the simple notion that we, women especially, crave lives of fulfillment, lives of enrichment. That comes from investing, first and most importantly in ourselves and in our dreams.

Publisher's Summary
A guide to conquering burnout and increasing your energy from a leading medical doctor and nutrition expert
EXHAUSTION DOESN’T HAVE TO BE YOUR NEW NORMAL
Does it feel like your life is too busy, your days are too short, and you're feeling overworked, overstressed, and overtired? Chances are you’ve asked your doctor for help, only to be told that it’s because of your age, or your workload, or, worse, that it’s just “normal.”
If so, you’re not alone. Women of all ages are suffering from an epidemic of fatigue and burnout. But exhaustion doesn’t have to be your new normal. Inspired by her personal wellness journey, integrative medical doctor Amy Shah has created this program so that you can regain your energy and reclaim your life.
The key is tapping into the powerful energy trifecta: the complex relationship between your gut, your immune system, and your hormones. Drawing on the latest science and her work helping thousands of clients, Dr. Shah explains how to transform your life by changing:
- What You Eat: Increase your vegetable intake and sip Dr. Shah’s hormone-balance tea recipe to tamp down inflammation and heal your gut, without giving up your wine and chocolate!
- When You Eat: Changing when you eat and practicing intermittent fasting—the right way—will help you feel energized all day long.
- How you manage stress: Simple, stress-busting exercises and herbs like Ashwagandha and Amla berry help calm the Adrenal system and ease anxiety.
In just two weeks, you’ll feel your energy surge. In three months, you’ll feel like a whole new person. It’s time to regain the energy you’ve lost, so you can get back to the life you want to live.

Great energy, mind, gut, hormone health book!
I would first recommend listening to the free spotify Podcast with her and ed mylett which made me fall in love with her teachings and her voice of course ha!
So many golden nuggets in here and then it gets a bit nuts and bolts detailed but some people might really appreciate that part of it, highly recommended :)

It was just okay
This book was OK I definitely won’t be reading it again and I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend if she asked about it. I think there’s a lot of better books out there about gut health like plant proof, and fibre fuelled. I feel a lot of it could’ve been condensed into about half the time there was a lot of storytelling that I personally felt it was not necessary. It’s essentially a whole audio book to tell you to fast with your rhythm and a 2 week pdf on what to eat.

Intro to fasting for beginners
If you read anything on Intermittent Fasting or hormones and this is not your first book I’d say you won’t get much new info from this one. There are references to studies without mentioning actual study or findings. I felt like the author was repetitive in some areas and focused on problem more than solution. There are few plans that were offered that are tailored towards vegan lifestyle although the author does not suggest that one has to adopt that lifestyle to be successful. Over all if this is not your first book on IF or hormones you might be left with not much in depth and new info but if this is your first book you are on the right track to learn something.

Seriously… WTF is the WTF PLAN?
The book itself was good, but mostly promotes the author’s WTF diet plan. I can tell you I spent a good $350 on the food she suggested you buy and her recipes were god. awful. Thankfully, I can repurpose most of the ingredients, but seriously, WTF? A pickle in an almond wrap with hummus and Thai chili powder? It’s like a stoner Indian food cook book with scraps from the garden and weird seasonings. I honestly am so mad I wasted my time on the book that promoted the diet, only to try the diet and not be able to use any of the author’s recipes. They’re honestly disgusting.

Difficult to listen to, good food for thoughts
My biggest issue is the narrator. I appreciate her energy but ending almost every sentence with a question, at least in intonation, made it almost impossible for me to finish. Some good information in there but overall not very well organized with a lot of unnecessary ‘girlfriend’ talk

Doesn’t make sense for most people
The timeline is not possible for my schedule. The book neglects to include people who, like myself, has only 30 minute lunch break and works 5 days a week. Also assumes you can workout in the morning, states do not exercise after 6pm- most people that work dayshift or have families can’t workout until kids go to sleep. I just cannot relate to this or see how it would work for most people.

Dr. Amy Shah has perfectly described the situation my women friends/sisters and I have found ourselves in - fatigued, digestive issues, and other 'inexplicable' ailments that don't show up in lab results. Since this book arrived in my Audible library this morning, I cannot stop listening to it! Dr. Shah's background, education, research, wisdom, and personal journey, all make up this roadmap to better energy and health and I am excited to apply the strategies in my own life. Good concepts but
The book needs better editing and organization and that performance needed coaching and directing. The parts where she added something for clarity post production were much natural voice. The whole rest of the book was performed in a teacher sing songy voice
