Inori firing on all cylinders

This is where this series starts firing on all cylinders. The rom-com shenanigans of volume 1 were charming, but I find volume 2 much more compelling. Rae and Claire have to navigate their relationship amidst the political turmoil of the commoner movement and the Nur Empire's efforts to destabilize the country. It's still mostly cute fluff but with hard hitting moments for the characters and payoff on many of the plot threads laid down in the first volume. I appreciate the introduction of a trans lesbian side character, or rather, that one of the characters from the first volume comes out of the closet. Her storyline was a heart-warming inclusion and I'm glad she also gets her girl.
