Good, but not as good as its predecessor...
I listened to the audio edition of "In the Hands of the Goddess" and enjoyed the continuing adventures of Alanna. In this book, Alanna becomes a squire and must face her worst fears accompanied by her faithful companions: Prince Jonathan, the cat faithful and George.
I was disappointed a bit with this Alanna book. Mainly because I think Alanna's romantic adventures with older men were a bit strange. Why can't Alanna meet a boy her own age? In particular the relationship with George... I don't care for George and he is... 7 years older? Yuck.
Overall, if you like Alanna you will enjoy this. Although I think the talking cat Faithful was a little much. This was a good book. Recommend for teens and young adults.

One of my favorites
Where does In the Hand of the Goddess rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I've always loved the original Alanna series, so this has to be in my top ten (I listen to a lot of audiobooks).
Who was your favorite character and why?
Gary or George. They're both very laid-back, but in different ways.
What does Trini Alvarado bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The accents. I love that Gary has a slightly British accent. It's so easy to imagine him that way.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Thom shows Alanna the secrets of her shield.
Any additional comments?
If you're considering this book, definitely give it a try. I thought it was even better than the first book.

I love this author and series!
I am so glad this series is on Audible.com, I love this author and this series. I always listen to this series when I am working on a new project, it is an easy story to listen to but keeps me occupied enough when my hands are busy. I love that characters from other series are also mentioned in other series it makes me smile every time I listen to one of her books. I read it for the first time in high school but I still love it as an adult!

Definitely one of my favorites
This book is definitely an amazing addition to the series. Often times, I’ve noticed that sequels have a bit of a challenge when it comes to living up to expectations, but in my opinion, this book definitely meets and surpasses my expectations.

Faithful
This second installment of the series isn't as good as the First Adventure but a good ending to Duke Roger and bringing in new villains for the next book. I love the addition of the magical cat Faithful. I always wanted to be able to talk to my cat.
