Story
Five years ago, I ruined the best thing I had in my life and ran. Now, I'm finally back to make things right. I need Circus's forgiveness, and then I can finally move on. I'll leave Sunbury for good this time and never look back. Maybe then I can finally live life as an out gay man - without my family ever finding out. But earning his forgiveness isn't as simple as I hoped it would be. He's going to make me fight for it. And I don't blame him at all.

Story
When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

Story
Payne. In search of: Room to rent. Must ignore the patheticness of a 40-year-old roommate. Preferably dirt cheap as funds are tight (nonexistent). There’s nothing sadder than moving back to my hometown newly divorced, homeless, and lost for what my next move is. When my little brother’s best friend offers me a place to stay in exchange for menial duties, I swallow my pride and jump at the offer. I need this. I also need Beau to wear a shirt. And ditch the gray sweatpants. And not leave his door ajar when he’s in compromising positions...

Milo. Unusual. Quirky. Different. I’ve heard it all. I’ve accepted I’m not for everyone. When I find out I inherited a bookstore and apartment on a small East Coast island, I jump at the chance for a new life. Turns out I’ve also inherited a sexy, tattooed guy who not only rents the space next to my store but my apartment too. Gideon. I wasn’t looking for a roommate, but it’s not like I can stay at Milo’s place while he’s banished to a hotel. According to Milo, we’re bestie goals. And if he doesn’t wear pants at home, who am I to complain?

Story
The fall from NHL superstar to domestic disaster was swift and painful. When I became the legal guardian of my five younger siblings, I had no idea what I was doing. One year later, I'm still lost. Coaching CU's hockey team might be the only thing I'm excelling at. But when our star forward is failing math, I have to do what it takes to keep him on the team. Even if it's going head-to-head with Jasper Eckstein. One minute I'm confronting the notorious hockey-hating professor, and the next I'm agreeing to be his date to a twenty-year high school reunion. I don't know how that happened.

Military life is all I’ve known since I was born. But when a top-secret mission fails, I find myself suddenly discharged with nowhere to go. Mike Bravo saved my life, and they want me to join them, but there’s one small problem. Isaac “Iris” Griffin. He’s as irresistibly snarky as he always was, only there’s a big difference this time. I’m no longer closeted or scared to live my truth. And the truth is, I’ve always wanted him. It’s against Mike Bravo’s rules to fraternize with other team members. But something tells me Iris might be worth the insubordination.

For the last three years, I've lived and breathed hockey with one goal: team captain. There's only one thing standing in my way. TJ Beckett. Beck is irresponsible and immature, and I've hated him since the moment we met freshman year. Yet the coaches see something in him I obviously can't, and they refuse to choose between us. The captain spot is going to a team vote. And the team thinks that what we need are a bunch of challenges to prove our worth.

It turns out making out with my best friend in high school could be considered gay. Who knew? Apparently, everyone but me. Now that it's been pointed out, I can't help reliving it in my head. Repeatedly. Good-bye Denial Town, hello Confusionville. When my path leads me down the gay dating app route, I don't expect to meet anyone I like, but then I meet him. He can't be more opposite than me. He's smart, he hates hockey, and he identifies as demi - something I've never heard of. Yet I can't deny something's there.

"Look out for Zach, and don't hit on him." My brother's request sounds easy enough. Keep an eye out for his best friend on campus and keep my hands to myself. Easy. Even if Zach is a quintessential nerd, who I've always thought was cute, I don't have the time to think with my...stick. There's only one stick I should be focused on this year, and that's my hockey stick. My goal once I graduate is to get an NHL contract. The last thing I need is a distraction. On or off the ice. Only, keeping to the rules is harder than I thought it would be.

It started out as a little fun. When there was a man in my building on a hookup app, why not message him? Only we didn’t meet. We just texted - one night after the other, after the other. GoodWithHisHands was the perfect escape from my life, where pressure was always on my shoulders: my father’s expectations, the worry about my sister, Maddy, getting sick again, and her ex-husband, Ryder Lynwood, suddenly back and volunteering at the same hospital as me. I like talking to him, the same way I enjoy chatting with GoodWithHisHands. They weren’t supposed to be the same person.

Publisher's Summary
Roo:
Five years ago, I walked away from Sunbury, Oregon, and left my best friend behind. The move was supposed to get my life on track. I even had a list: Life-changing epilepsy surgery. Check. See the world. Check. Get over my straight best friend... Not exactly.
No matter where I go or who I meet, I can't let Tanner go. I'm back to tell him how I feel. To get the closure I need once and for all. Only now I'm here and falling for him all over again, it's getting harder to say the words. Because once I have my closure, I'll be gone. And this time it will be for good.
Tanner:
When my best friend, Roo, left for Australia, it was the worst day of my life. I thought we'd have each other always. But Roo needed the surgery so I let him go, thinking he'd come straight back. Five years is a long time.
Now he's here, all I want is to hold on tight. I need to show him what he means to me. The problem is, I'm not exactly sure what that is. My draw to him has always been confusing and different - everyone in town says so. But I struggle to understand it. All I know is I won't survive him leaving again. And I'll do anything to make him stay.
Contains mature themes.

My Roo, Your Tanner, Gahhhh!
I love a good 'not just friends' storyline and this was that at its best! This adorable tale had one of my favorite scenes in any book... in a bar no less. Such beautiful moments of realization and vulnerability. Narrators were perfection. I searched for more from the author and both narrators!

Fun along with romance
Friendship combined Romance gives this book a sweet vibe. Royse & Tanner have such a great friendship going on, so it's only natural that romance binds them together. Both narrators have done an excellent job creating this audiobook. Also Saxon has written a fabulous book. I highly recommend it to others.

Story is not beleivable.
This is another book ignorantly written by a young woman author for women readers using the M/M genre. I find that as is typical with women authors in this genre, Saxon James gets many things wrong. There are women authors who get these things correct, but James makes so many blunders that it becomes evident that she does not know what she is writing. I don't know any places in the United States or "Oregon" where best male friends kiss each other "hundreds" of times without realizing that they are both gay. As a swimmer of many decades, I can tell you that the closeness and frivolites that James writes her characters in this story in the pool scene would be completely out of the norm and borderline inappropriate in a public pool even if no one was around. As a gay man, I feel that James's treatment of her gay characters is not reasonable and feels like she wrote a M/F love story and changed the plumbing and gender of the female lead. I have read other M/M stories by women authors and have been entranced and impressed with their representation and depth of gay storylines. That is definitely not the case with Just Friends. Saxon James is not helping the genre. Her gay characters are 2-dimensional and not well rounded or believable. I suspect that she is somehow enamoured with some ideals from the genre and wants to participate. I find that she is not helping the genre or LGBTQ+ community and that she should stick to the M/F genre. If this story is any indication of her understanding M/M stories, she is woefully inadequate to the task of being an M/M author.

MM Best Friends to Lovers
This was just darling!! Wow, I loved it sooo much. It was low-angst, best friends to lovers, unrequited love and bi-awakening. First, Tanner was swoon-worthy with just how wonderful of a person he was. I really loved Roo as well, and thought he was mature through everything. I also loved that they didn't have the complete lack of communication that I would expect from this type of book. I loved it that they were able to talk through what they were feeling and there was not an unnecessary uncoupling. I also really, really enjoyed the side characters and cannot wait to read their stories. This narrations is one of my favorites, especially with two of my favorite narrators being Alexander Cendese & Kirt Graves!! Must read for sure.

Great couple and fabulous little town
Thoroughly enjoyed the setting of this book in the quirky town an hour from Portland Oregon. I'm a little surprised a couple this close to being codependent managed to survive 5 years apart, but I still had to cheer for them finding their HEA. Looking forward to the next one.

Alexander Cendese’s narration just ruined it for me
Story is quite sweet, writing is pretty fitting and smooth. Kirt Graves’ narration was very enjoyable: the pace, depiction of characters, performance overall were really good.
But, Alexander’s narration of the book just ruined it for me. He sounded very rushed, and read so quickly that there was no room for breath. Transition between dialogues, characters, monologue were just jarring. There were many sweet moments and great internal struggles in the book, but Alexander’s narration just ruined them all.
I would have purchased the next two books in the series, but after realizing Alexander narrated them, I just decided gave them up. Quite disappointing.

Good story. Good narration.
This was a sweet story with moderate angst. The characters were interesting, and the romance had a dash of steaminess.
The author did a nice job of portraying a demisexual character although the term wasn't actually used. I appreciate how the author highlights the challenges people face in life when they have hidden disabilities.
The thing about being dyslexic... Dyslexia is a little different for everyone. It's probably true that some people find reading to be extremely challenging, but it is dangerous to equate dyslexia with the inability to read. It took decades for me to realize that I was dyslexic rather than just an absentminded flutter head because I was taught that dyslexic people can't read. I read very well. I read very quickly. l have to read everything twice so I learned to skim and then read. Intellectually I understand the difference between right and left, but my brain constantly swaps them. I can't see the difference between trial and trail, but I can determine the difference by the context of a sentence. The point being, I could have saved myself an extra year of college if I had realized that I was dyslexic. Just because I could read didn't mean that letters and numbers didn't start moving around on the page without my permission. Sigh.
Anyway, this was an entertaining story with good performances by the narrators, Alexander Cendese and Kirt Graves.
