Le roman est épatant. Le narrateur est doué.
Mais Seigneur Dieu! quel montage mal ficelé ! hoquet, déglutitions, même la bande qui part en accéléré en plein milieu! Quand on vend un chef-d'œuvre on soigne la technique, on ne bâcle pas.

Livre exceptionnel
Magnifique épopée pleine de profondeur, d’action, et f’humour. Très belle lecture du comédien qui nous embarque pendant 24 heures d’écoute !

Avis mitigé
Ce (très) gros livre ne laisse pas indifférent, on y trouve des originalités et des fulgurances, mais on s'ennuie aussi, c'est trop long, trop délayé, le quotidien de Garp n'est pas toujours intéressant...
Les thèmes principaux ( création littéraire, féminisme et machisme, transgenres, mouvements extrémistes, éducation des enfants...) étaient certainement avant-gardistes dans les années 70/80 mais sont devenus banals de nos jours.
J'ai eu maintes fois la tentation d'abandonner l'écoute mais je me suis accrochée, la deuxième moitié étant plus intéressante, et au bout du compte je ne regrette pas de l'avoir lu jusqu'au bout, il m'en restera quelque chose, c'est sûr....

Mon œil!
Je n'ai pas aimé lorsque le roman se met à écrire longuement l'histoire d'un autre roman. En dehors de ce petit chapitre, j'ai aimé tout le reste. Décalé et humain, tout était vrai selon mon œil.

Des livres dans le livre. J'ai bien aimé les histoires imaginées par Garp, mais il y avait des passages un peu gores. Et puis la façon de quitter le sujet pour donner des explications, ralentissait l'intrigue.
