Publisher's Summary

What would life look like if you could reach the type of enlightenment that freed you from all negativity and suffering? In the life-changing Letting Go audiobook, Sir David R. Hawkins aims to teach listeners the most effective ways to let go and start living their best lives.

Sir David R. Hawkins, MD, Ph.D., was a widely respected and renowned psychiatrist, researcher, spiritual and personal growth teacher and New York Times best-selling author. Dr. Hawkins lectured about enlightenment, self-realization and "Unio Mystica" at historical places in the United Kingdom, like the Oxford Forum and Westminster Abbey, and all over the United States at prestigious universities like Notre Dame and Harvard. Aside from founding institutes and thought processes, including the Path of Devotional Nonduality, Dr. Hawkins was a trusted advisor to religious leaders of many faiths and is even credited with helping foreign governments and political leaders resolve long–standing conflicts that were major threats to world peace.

The Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender audiobook is narrated by Peter Lownds, Ph.D., who has also described other notable works from Dr. Hawkins, including Transcending the Levels of Consciousness: The Stairway to Enlightenment.

This is a great book to enjoy in audio format to explore your spiritual growth for the first time or advance your journey to enlightenment, no matter where you are. Loved it

A great reminder to release the need to control what we can’t, to be present and accepting of situations opens up the space for alternative solutions. Some say it was long but I like these type of books, the repetitiveness engrains the teaching in your mind.

He's not as legit as I though

I feel like there's some good stuff in here, but I feel like I've been misled. The book gets good reviews, and he's an MD, so I thought it was a credible book. However, some of the stuff he presents as facts are just his own brand mysticism. I tried looking for info on this guy and it turns out his wikipedia page has been taken down several times, which is suspicious to me.

Anyway, if the book had been presented as being by a philosopher/mystic kind of guy, then I'd know what I was in for. Instead, it's got this veneer of being a widely accepted scientific work; which it isn't. It's more in line with the work of Wayne Dyer or Eckhart Tolle.

Doubtful yet enjoyable

The bulk of the book has practical methods for moving beyond your emotions and understanding how much they control your current life. I’ve been working through these methods due to reading other books over the years so I can attest that it works, though this one is very well written to “learn the skills”.

However it does get, perhaps too ‘spiritual’ and ‘be healed by a tv preacher’ like at many points that I found it distracting or taking away from the the tools it was teaching. I understand it’s sharing these examples of enlightenment and energy as a goal and perhaps my mind is too closed, but I could have done without these sections.

YES. Life changing

Trully life changing book for anyone. Even if you are arleady familiar with and practice sutrendering... It's very clearly explained and argumented.

This simple technique is all you need. Don't be blinded by all new age books and techniques that offers only temporary releases and experiences. This is a way of living every single day that will lead you to a true liberation.

You can clearly feel that the book is written from a very high frequency state.

Dated

This book feels like it is stuck in the past, when women were not considered equals. Woman’s accomplishment being a designer dress is offensive to me and the constant examples of ridiculous gender roles make this book hard to read without cringing.

Helpful but wayyyyy to long

The content is great but spread across 12 hours. I think they could have condensed the content into 3-6 hours.

An abundance of practical information & philosophy

The audio is clear, though the narrator is rather monotone. Thankfully I found the content fascinating so it was easy to get over the naration.
I found that each chapter of this book provides intriguing concepts worth reflecting on as well as practical instructions to practice. The content meshes well with many other modalities, philosophies, and even religions.
Anyone could use this technique.
Those with severe traumas may initially feel uncomfortable, invalidated, or enraged, but he actually does a good job of exploring and managing those reactions as well, if you are willing to go there with it.
My only complaint is that the overall theory still follows the "good vibes only" mantra and fails to acknowledge the potential toxicity of not acknoging and exploring "negative" emotions.
