In the real world, Oren Berman is recovering from the mental trauma of being trapped, tortured, and abruptly ejected. Experience an Isekai culture clash as a laid-back Australian finds himself in a very serious world. See him gain suspiciously evil powers through a unique progression system combining cultivation and traditional LitRPG elements. Enjoy a weak-to-strong story with a main character who earns his power without overshadowing everyone around him, with plenty of loot, adventurers, gods and magic. Rich characters and world-building offer humor, political intrigue, and slice-of-life elements alongside lots of monster fighting and adventure.

The story is now falling into moralization tropes
one of the thing i liked about this story was that the main character could do evil things occassionally. That is no longer the case. Oren has started needing more and more moralistic justification for every action, from not harming civilians to being unable to fulfil a pact with nihilator.
The final straw for the negative review came and tried to raise qualms about imprisoning an obstacle that opposed them. Even though its still a good story and well written its now just the same dime-a-dozen moral-hero type of story.
the worst part is it looks like the original text didnt have this problem and it had some evil parts like nihilator assaulting a town, but some idiot of an editor took it out. Sucks that it got rewarded with 5 stars but i guess i could write my own

Great Story but hard listen
Like the rest of the books in the series the story was great and colorful. But following in the footsteps of the previous two books, they decided to add a ton of excess sounds at all of the exciting parts. This makes it near impossible to understand what is happening and is incredibly frustrating to listen to. Even rewinding multiple times is not enough to clear up/process some of what is said.
Again amazing book, would recommend. The audio maybe not so much.

Not a fan of excessive sound effects and music
the rest of the series has been great. this time around they really over did it with the sound effects, and on top of that, added music. I'm fine with a little of that stuff in my audiobooks, at times it can really bring home a scene, but for every little thing? it's just obnoxious.

This book is amazing. I’d say it’s the best since book 1. The story is great as are the characters and the development. My only complaint is the stuff with his daughter. I don’t care about her and she’s annoying. Combine that with Orins oath and she’s just a pain.

The question is to fight or belt
There's a lot of building in this one but it's not concentrate on as much as normal it's more about the fighting as it should be because this is a part where they fight to stay alive and prepare for the final book in the series and we get to see more of the side characters and how they work together

successfully missed jumping sharks
I have to admit, when the whole plot shifted, i was worried that the story was going to change so much that all suspension of disbelief would be ruined for me.
But the author has somehow not only maintained the best parts of what i loved of this story, but has been able to incorporate new elements to make the story better imho.
Also the callbacks to stuff referenced in the first few books, really make the plot seem like to be progressing naturally. All in all just plain well written.
And at this point, does anyone even need to mention the incredible talent the voice actors bring to the story? Amazing as usual. And other production teams should take notes on how light of a touch, the sound effects are used. A little but goes a long way, too many audio books are ruined these days with overproduction and background too loud for the narrator. Not here. Thanks for that. Definitely cannot wait to buy the next instalment.
DT/SL TV is gonna be huge!!
