Publisher's Summary
Robyn Peltier moved to Los Angeles after her young husband's sudden death. Though she's still grieving, the challenges of her new life as the PR consultant to Portia Kane - the world's most famous celebutante wannabe - can sometimes be amusing, even distracting. But when her client is gunned down in a nightclub, Robyn is suddenly on the run as the prime suspect in the murder. And as more bodies pile up around her, it seems like only Hope Adams, Robyn's best friend, and Hope's somewhat spooky boyfriend Karl are on Robyn's side. But it's not the police Hope is worried about, and the only way Hope can keep her friend alive is by letting her enter a world she's safer knowing nothing about.

decent
I am a huge fan of the women of the underworld series and this book has never been my favourite, but it's okay. The narrator was better than the person who performed Bitten on here but she still horribly mispronounced some names (Peltier and Jamie). I wish the whole series was available on audible.

Great story
I quite enjoyed this story. It wasnt absolutely amazing, and I didnt LOVE it, but I definitely enjoyed it. That said, I do LOVE this universe and all of the characters within. The particular plot of this one was just a very tad but lackluster. I still gave it full stars because I can't pinpoint what I found not as excellent as the previous series of hers I listened to (the twin teen wolf cubs books.)
I also didn't love the narrator but I don't have a good reason for that either. All in all, this story just passes the greater side of meh, but the fact that it was meh is on me and my preferences. It's a perfectly good book with an interesting stpry.
One good part is that I absolutely HATED the villains. I always believe that hating a villain is a very strong sign of a decent to amazing writer, entirely depending on why they are hated. As for this story, I would say Kelley's work was much closer to amazing than it was decent. I mean I absolutely LOOOOOATHED that evil woman! There are few characters I hate more. This list includes the likes of Geoffry (GoT) Umbridge, and the most evil parent I have ever seen, the adoptive mom in a manga called "An Innocent Sin." The manga is EXTREMELY NSFW, some probably would call it NSFL. The adoptive mother is an absolute monster, and she raised a daughter alongside her adoptive son who is trying to fight her for the most despicable character on the planet! Anyway, The villain in this story could be that terrible mom's daughter too if going only by evil deeds. She would be considered the "good" child, but still enough of a psychopath that she would fit right in! And that's saying something!

It was ok. Slow moving.
Not much of a mystery. I figured out who the killer was early into the story. Also, the narrator sounded like A.I. I don't think I will continue with the series because of this.

Good addition to series
My only real issue is the narrator’s repeated mispronunciation of Robyn Peltier’s last name. As a Canadian familiar with that last name, it grates just as much as listening to the butchering of ‘foyer’.
Other than that, an enjoyable listen, half decent storyline, but, because previous books are not available on audible, listeners not familiar with the series, may feel a bit left out of previous events and plot lines.

Great story
My only qualme, like another reviewer, is the mispronunciation of Robin Peltier's last name. It's just nails on chalkboard to hear it constantly mispronounced. Also isn't Jaime's name supposed to be pronounced 'Jay-me' not 'hi-mmm'?
Not a deal breaker but it'd really help if Americans learned to pronounce names properly, especially French ones. There's honestly nothing more jarring than hearing a French name horribly mispronounced. (And if you are wondering Peltier is accurately pronounced 'pell-tee-ay.')

Slow start but a strong finish
Not the best book of the series but an important one plot wise. Was not a fan of Robin but Hope and Karl were great as always. Adele was a top notch villian but i thought some of the dirtier scenes with the teen boys were unnecessary and discomforting.
Reader was good but the way she pronounced Jaime as Hai-me bothered me more than it should have.

It was ok
The story dragged on. I almost forgot the point of it a few times. The narrator was beyond irritating, her voices went from nerdy stuffy nosed teenager, to Frenchy from Grease, to Hank Hill and on and on.
