À propos de cet audio

A 2026 Audie Award Finalist for Best Fiction Narrator

The 40th anniversary edition of the Pulitzer Prize–winning classic of the American West, with a new foreword by Yellowstone cocreator Taylor Sheridan. An epic of the frontier, Lonesome Dove is the grandest novel ever written about the last defiant wilderness.

Journey to the dusty little town of Lonesome Dove, where retired Texas Rangers Augustus McCrae and Woodrow Call undertake a perilous cattle drive to the untamed plains of Montana. Along the way, they face danger, adventure, and an unforgettable cast of characters. Richly authentic and beautifully written, Lonesome Dove is a story of love, loss, and the unyielding spirit of the American West.

This book has been at the top of my tbr list for quite some time - I knew it was a western theme but that was it. However, as I excitedly listened to the introduction I was horrified by the blatant and nonchalant way he dropped some pretty big spoilers and now I’m stuck waiting for the things to happen and it has really ruined what I think would have been a truly wonderful literary journey. The further I get into the book the more disappointed I get because I can’t get connected to some of the central characters because I already know what’s going to happen to them. Like I can truly appreciate that Mr. Sheridan is passionate about this book and how greatly it has impacted him, but so much so that he felt entirely entitled to spoil it for anyone who had yet to experience it for themselves? Shame on anyone who thought this was an appropriate introduction to a book.
