Publisher's Summary

In this honest, layered and unforgettable book that alternates between storytelling and her own poetry, Pamela Anderson breaks the mold of the celebrity memoir while taking back the tale that has been crafted about her.

Her blond bombshell image was ubiquitous in the 1990s. Discovered in the stands of a football game, she was immediately rocket launched into fame, becoming Playboy’s favorite cover girl and an emblem of Hollywood glamour and sexuality. But what happens when you lose grip on your own life—and the image the notoriety machine creates for you is not who you really are?

Growing up on Vancouver Island, the daughter of young, wild, and unprepared parents, Pamela Anderson’s childhood was not easy, but it allowed her to create her own world—surrounded by nature and imaginary friends. When she overcame her deep shyness and grew into herself, she fell into a life on the cover of magazines, the beaches of Malibu, the sets of movies and talk shows, the arms of rockstars, the coveted scene at the Playboy Mansion. And as her star rose, she found herself tabloid fodder, at the height of an era when paparazzi tactics were bent on capturing a celebrity’s most intimate, and sometimes weakest moments. This is when Pamela Anderson lost control of her own narrative, hurt by the media and fearful of the public’s perception of who she was…and who she wasn’t.

Fighting back with a sense of grace, fueled by a love of art and literature, and driven by a devotion to her children and the causes she cares about most, Pamela Anderson has now gone back to the island where she grew up, after a memorable run starring as Roxie in Chicago on Broadway, reclaiming her free spirit but also standing firm as a strong, creative, confident woman.

Beautiful

Such a beautifully written book, so eloquent and almost poetic. It's one of the better celebrity weitten books I've read.

Endearing

Pamela's story, told in her words with her voice, invokes a deep connection between the story and the listener. I was moved and inspired by her journey of love and life. With such a strong and passionate heart, her words came alive, and you feel like you are listening to an old friend catch you up on their life. I am grateful Pamela put her thoughts, stories, and lessons into this adoring autobiography.

Love Pamela was definitely an interesting discovery

I listened to the audio boik and had the pleasure of listening to her directly. It must have been hard for her to read through some of these moments of her life. I just love her; I found her to be centered, genuine, with no-bullsh*t. The only thing is I could have listened to even more, the book could have been longer and even more detailed. I thank her for sharing.

I got all the feels.

Review Edit

I was captivated by the whimsical storytelling in this book. Pamela's personal experiences resonated deeply with me, possibly because I live in British Columbia, (North Van). The way she described her upbringing reminded me of my own childhood, creating a sense of closeness and understanding. The dark times she opened up about is personal and hard to hear.

I truly admire her profound love for her children, animals, for love, and her thirst for knowledge. It's evident that she is intelligent and radiates love and positivity. I particularly appreciate her references to other books, as well as her exploration of indigenous cultures in her narrative. Her love for Tommy is heartwarming and adds an additional layer of depth to the story. She is such a strong women. Wow!

The inclusion of fairies made me feel special and understood. Like Pamela, I also believe in the magic and connection with Mother Nature, the ocean, trees, bird's, ect. It was comforting to find a kinship in her words. Love her!

Pam Anderson Can’t Make Up Her Mind

I’ve read hundreds of auto-biographies and although I generally believe Pam Anderson is a good person and means well- In listening to this entire audio book I’m left feeling like she’s trying to convince us all that in all of her lucky breaks and fanfare… she wants us to believe she just ‘fell’ into all her showbiz breaks without ever trying and was just picked suddenly to do tremendous things in the movies and on tv and in magazines and sets herself up like a hero. I sense a bit of narcissism. People weren’t drawn to her and her fairies and trees- they were drawn to her huge ‘assets’ and figure (that she willingly showed off all over tv and in magazines to get noticed) and they told her whatever she wanted to hear to do what they offered her because it made them money! Lots of sex and mischievous behavior ensued and Pam is certainly no angel or hero in any of that as she rode that wave of sexual prowess as far as it would go. She went through a couple of decades of posing nude and wearing clothes that were barely there to catch people’s attention… yet acting demurely like she had no idea what was going on! She just ‘showed up’ in a skin tight dress above the knees with her triple D cups hanging out and her make up done to the hilt- like she dressed like that everyday as she randomly showed up at a movie premier or Hollywood events or magazine shoots. And like Madonna in her later years- suddenly she’s a mystic woman who wanders in the forest and talks to trees and drinks coffee on the beach hating people and wanting us all to believe yet again- that she never wanted all the attention she got. You kinda made that bed yourself- Pam. You wanted all this attention and now you do not. Makes no sense why you stayed in LA for decades making bank off of it only to run to France then back to Canada once you were financially secure claiming you were forced to be a sexual puppet all along the way. And now want to pretend that was never ‘you’. Go figure.

first book in 5 years I couldn't finish

could not even finish!! The only book in 5 years. I just couldn't take her voice or her story. she is not an author you think the book company would have given her a ghost writer.

I really wanted to like this….

She has lived such an interesting life. Rubbed shoulders with some of the liveliest characters of the late 90’s and 2000’s, unfortunately very little of that life experience was shared with us. The book ends up being boring.

I question all the positive reviews

I listen to mostly autobiographies, to the point that Audible recommends them to me all the time. When I heard about this book I did what I always tell myself not to do. Pre-order it. I'm not a particular fan of hers. I have never seen anything she was in because she was in it, nor buy anything because she was in it. Well, except for this audiobook.

I heard about the drama that Tim Allen and Sylvester Stallone where denying what she said about them, so I HAD to find out what the big to do was all about. I fell for the marketing. My mistake.

While I'm sure Pamela is very intelligent and I'm sure she can read, especially since she wrote the book. But...she read soooooo, and I mean soooooo slow. It was painful to hear the long breaks she was taking and how long it seemed for her to complete a sentence I had to speed up the app.

The first half hour was interesting enough. Like most autobiographies she talks about her childhood and it painted a clear enough picture of what her childhood was like. Without spoiling anything the Tim Allen and Sylvester Stallone sentence or two dedicated to each was not interesting at all. Maybe Tim Allen was a chuckle but that was it. Have to remember the time period then. But he didn't mean anything by it. And Stallone, eh.

By the end of the book Pamela is really busy patting herself on the back for being an environmentalist, while at the same time talking about all those flights all over the country/world. She lectures the listener about going green but from the sound of it, she burned more fossil fuel in a year than most people do in their lifetime, but I digress. After all it was so she could be in a show in Vegas and then home for the kids on the weekends. Not to mention she traveled all over for her activist activities. I knew she was a "activist", but I forgot and didn't know the extent of her travels.

Do I regret buying it? Well, it solidified my do not pre-order anything rule. Would I listen to it again. Nope. So I ask who is writing all the accolades here? Friends of hers, or Fans of her work. I dunno, I'm neither so I can look at it honestly.

First audiobook in awhile that I’ve finished

I’m picky about narrations in audiobooks and am unable to finish them a lot of times because of that. However, Pam’s voice is relaxing, engaging, and fun. I’ve always enjoyed her presence throughout the years, so I’m happy she’s having a resurgence and a new audience can be exposed to this lovely, complex, and bright person who’s lived a fascinating life. No one is ever just one thing, and she’s proof of this. I’m happy for her and grateful to have heard her story in her own words.

I wanted to Love Pamela!

This was such a struggle. I love Pam… loved Pam & Tommy… not a Brittany fan too much…but I had to read between all the descriptive words, poems and quotes. I felt like she was trying so hard. I feel bad she feels she needs for prove herself so much!!! I love the Pamela that JUST IS. No excuses. Just raw like I thought she wants to be, I kept waiting for the climax and just never got there! I loved the stories in her own words but took me awhile to peel away the layers to get there. It’s her first novel so it’s not bad. She did give us a lot but idk??? What’s missing????
