Publisher's Summary

The problem with secrets is that they’re too easy to keep collecting.

Luna Allen has done some things she would rather no one ever know about. She also knows that, if she could go back in time, she wouldn’t change a single thing.

With three sisters she loves, a job she (mostly) adores, and a family built up of friends she’s made over the years, Luna figures everything has worked out the way it was supposed to.

But when one of those secrets involves the man who signs her paycheck, she can’t find it in her to regret it. Despite the fact that he’s not the friendliest man in the world. Or the most patient.

Sometimes there are things you’re better off keeping to yourself.

Number one overall Amazon Kindle best seller.

I usually don't write reviews

But this one deserves one. It is a 17hrs read. I read it in two days because I began after noon the first day. I ate it up like I have rarely eaten a book. Beautifully written with an amazing character that feels so strong and amazing, but still real, profound and complete. God I enjoyed this book.

Read it!

I LOVE this story. Everything about this is refreshing. Heroine is an autobody worker? Heck yes! I love Zapata’s emotional world, the real problems her heroines face (she gives them some doozies) and how delicious it is when the slow burn finally lights up. Will read again.

Entertaining and easy listen

Entertaining and binge worthy. The only thing I'd say is that the main character was pretty oblivious at times. Liked the book anyways.

Two Narrators One Viewpoint

I love MZ and her slow burns. It is a great story, but I really thought the "lie" would have been so much more shocking. It wasn't really part of the story except to act as a catalyst (and maybe an excuse) for the two main characters to interact. (Kind of unnecessary since they work together...) And it happened before the book starts, so yeah I felt like the title might have been a bit misleading. Other than that, I loved this. I read Under Locke a long time ago, so it was great to revisit some of that world too. The story is told from the heroine's POV, but the hero's spoken parts are actually narrated by a man. An unusual way to perform a book with a single perspective. But both narrators were great and I will definitely listen again and again.

Slow Burn Queen

Mariana Zapata is the queen of the slow burn. She never lets you down.

Callie Dalton is amazing. She is the main reason I listen to many of Zapata’s books and not read them.

At first I wasn’t a huge fan of Rip speaking his line. I had never listened to a book doing that before. But it grew on me and I ended up really liking it.

Entertaining

3.5 stars
Rip and Luna are interesting, relatable, intriguing characters. Each has been hurt in the past by those who are supposed to love them and have done things in their past that they want to keep secret. I enjoyed their romance and the sweet moments – those came in different ways. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story. I wish that the third act break-up had a different cause, because Luna deserved better.

I enjoyed the audio version of the book.

Amazing

This book. MZ wrote another masterpiece and Callie Dalton was just an amazing narrator once again. Wasn’t sure if I’d like the second person narration, but it was really good. Added a whole new depth to the story line. Highly recommend!

The Age Gap

I had a really hard time getting passed the age gap between the two main characters. It through me off from start to finish - I just couldn't stop thinking about it.

Not her best book

I love all the rest of Mariana Zapata’s that are available on audible. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad book but it pales in comparison to her others.
