Damon has become a monster...sort of.

Not Enough

Story is fine it's a neat idea MC is ok.

The male narrator(s?) do a fantastic job easy to distinguish different characters, good clean performance and excellent delivery and pronunciations. The female narrator makes my ears bleed her voices are all horribly shrill and piercing and whatever recording equipment she used leaves her voice a bit off.

If its on sale its worth a listen, but while I really wanted to love the book as it had a very fun idea and good narration, I was frustrated by the pace of the story, its obsession with "system numbers", and above all the almost insane way the main character operated swinging from good decisions to downright stupid. On one hand he is supposed to be a professional and a survivor, who simply needed a break to get experience and equipment. However, on the other he does incredibly silly things like trying to learn bow for the first time in live combat against monsters rather than spending a moment to practice ahead of time. Indeed, even thought he was supposed to be raised by an ex adventurer, he appears to have had zero combat training which was just silly. Unfortunately, it was silly this dichotomy which kept making me loose my suspension of disbelief as it did seem inwardly consistent with the story.

I love everything about this book, I've listened to all 3 of them 2 times and I'm starting on a third read. all of the V.A. did an excellent job but the guy that does Chester's voice smashed it outta the park. I love the characters and the flow of the story. overall top tier book I'd heartily recommend to anyone that'd listen
