No greater friend. No deadlier enemy.

The explosive new novel in the New York Times bestselling Orphan X series is flipping the acclaimed series on its head. Find out why series superfans and new listeners alike are calling it a “knockout” (firstCLUE).

Evan Smoak is a highly trained former government assassin who has survived for years by keeping his circle to a few trusted confidants and a strict code he calls “The Ten Commandments.” But when Evan suddenly finds himself at odds with his oldest friend, all the rules he lives by shatter—and the consequences are murderous.

Tommy Stojack might be Evan's best friend in the world. He’s a gifted gunsmith who has created much of Evan's own weapons and combat gear. But now, he has apparently crossed one of Evan's hardest lines and their argument explodes into open warfare. Now Evan has no choice but to track and face down his only friend.

In the meantime, Tommy has left town in order to honor his own promise to help a dead friend's son. While Tommy is fighting to save the son with everything he’s got, Evan arrives with vengeance in mind.

But as deadly as the former Orphan X is, there is an even more dangerous threat about to arrive on the scene. The only question left is will any of them get out alive.

Ce que les critiques en disent

"Nemesis is an excellent turning point in the Orphan X series with great story arcs that embrace meaningful and engaging themes distinct to each character and also opens the door for an even rawer and emotionally beaten Evan like you would never expect by the end of the narrative. Hurwitz throws a curveball that will leave you stunned for the better part of a day when you finally reach the end."—Best Thriller Books

Awesome story. Well read. Kept me coming back to find out the next. Probably the best in my opinion. The internal battles.

The climatic battle

I'm a fan of orphan x series so may be biased. I enjoyed this book very much. The ending is somewhat sad as one of the main characters is dead. But overall plot and performance are great. Multiple story lines keep you focused and more character development dives you deeper into the orphan x world. Scott Brick's performance is top notch although several fragments needed a few repetitions to fully grasp. Unexpected third person narration of the final mission scene but not bad just gives less thrill compared to a first person view. I was a bit concerned with other non favorable reviews but likely they were matters of preference. Keeping the book.

Enjoyable listen

Orphan X has grown as a character. The story goes in completely unexpected directions. Unique and different from the previous 9 books and yet somehow the best one yet.

Wow! The best of the Orphan X series so far.

If your an Orphan fan you’ll be very pleased. Saved it for my daily walk, 30 minutes at a time. Story and reader in perfect sync.

Best X ever

Usually I review on the story or narration, but this book needs a comment on the writing and message. The timing is amazing. Great job.

HERO

Great pacing, good character development. It's not easy to write 10 (and more) books in a series and still engage the reader -- both giving the audience more of what it likes, but also evolving the story and the characters in a way that keeps the reader interested. Well done, Mr. Hurwitz.

(Ok, for me, I'll admit I fast-forward through the extreme violence -- I catch the gist, but that's not why I listen to these books. I still really enjoy them.)

Another great addition to the Orphan X canon

This may be the best one yet. The story deals with the despair of young men trapped in a social media world without role models and purpose. The struggles to set such men on the right course and the consequences of failure. The journey of self-discovery for our anti-hero in his most personal mission yet. And the narration is perfect and brings the story to life. So very good in all respects.

Compelling and emotional

The author is one of the best at his discipline and yet Nemesis turned out to be the least of the orphan X series. Even Scott Brick could not turn this one around. All of the tech jargon in the world does not make up for a weak storyline.
At his worst Hurwitz is better than most. However, the competition is ruthless when you are competing ….with yourself.

Unfortunate

Everything. I ended up stopping it at 80 percent. Didn’t want to waste anymore time.

Terrible book. Very disappointing. Rambled. Hated the narrator v
