Publisher's Summary

Martha Wells' New York Times and USA Today best-selling Murderbot series exploded onto the scene in 2017, and the world has not been the same, since.

Murderbot returns in its highly anticipated, first full-length stand-alone novel, Network Effect.

You know that feeling when you’re at work and you’ve had enough of people, and then the boss walks in with yet another job that needs to be done right this second or the world will end, but all you want to do is go home and binge your favorite shows? And you're a sentient murder machine programmed for destruction? Congratulations, you're Murderbot.

Come for the pew-pew space battles, stay for the most relatable AI you’ll listen to this century.

I’m usually alone in my head, and that’s where 90-plus percent of my problems are.

When Murderbot's human associates (not friends, never friends) are captured and another not-friend from its past requires urgent assistance, Murderbot must choose between inertia and drastic action.

Drastic action it is, then.

Great story. Talented narrator.

Couldn’t stop listening to this, the author makes me care a lot about the protagonist. The narrator is really effective. The combination of the writing and narration made me kind of feel like I was missing a friend when the book was over.

Murderbot 1.0 💗

love this series, I love Murderbot's reluctant acceptance of emotions and 'caring' from humans and A.R.T.

one of my all time favourites series ever!! Can't not wait for the next book.

Heart melts

This whole series is just so good! So happy I gave it a try, it has grown on me more and more through each one and this one is right up there with the first book, quickly turning into a favourite already!

An Exciting Full Length Adventure

The fifth novel in the eternally charming MURDERBOT DIARIES sees everyone’s favourite grumpy sec unit protecting his “definitely not” friends and old allies from a confounding danger.

Murderbot really does get so much more fun with each adventure. The attitude and sarcasm never fails to make me laugh, and Murderbot coming to terms with its pesky emotions is a constant joy.

The story is fast paced, full of intelligent dialogue and great character moments. There is plenty of action to keep the story moving, so I never once felt bored.

Murderbot always delivers and the ending leaves open tons of opportunity for new stories along the way!

Best of the series so far

The story format really developed compared to the last five books. This was one of the best ones yet.

Fantastic

Martha Wells please keep telling us Murderbot stories. What a great character. MB sees the stupidity and brutality of his universe, and thus our own world, with humour, and childlike, simple truth. Kevin R Free you will always be the voice of his wisdom.

Among my favourite series’ of all time

Very different than the Expanse, but the only other series I’d invest that much time reading. I hope there are many more books to come.

story is amazing, narrator makes it phenomenal

this series is one of my favoutotes and one of the few that I read in physocal form first but consistently listen to in audiobook format due to the narrator.

Kevib adds nuance and personality to the characters in a way that highlights murderbots strength as well as vulnerabilities without it being grating. and when other characters speak they have different ways of speaking and tones and i just love it.

Why would you use the word ‘foyer’ twenty times?

..it also forces half the world to stumble whenever the narrator says ‘foyer’ instead of ‘foyay’.

Great series!

The first full novel in the series and it is wonderful! I am hooked on this series and I cannot wait for more books (no matter the length). So give me more novellas and novels with Murderbot. The narrator does such a great job with this whole series!
