Still a fun listen but I’m actually starting to sympathize with Bob. Much more side quests on this one than there oughta be, starting to feel like I’m getting milked like with The Expense which even got a tip-of-a-top-hat in this book. Maybe I just didn’t expect this series to turn into yet another space opera.

The epic scope of the Bobiverse gets even bigger. An interesting discovery happens that appears to set up a focus for the next few books. It's all mostly interesting, and easy to listen to. There continues to be petty drama with the human settlements but enough other things happen to offset that. Pretty satisfying overall. The new intelligent species is cool and the best one so far.

I waited up until midnight of Sept 5th for Book 5 to appear in my library to listen to… and then 1am…. and then gave up and when I woke at 6am it was there! The Bobiverse is the only SciFi series that I have re-read as many times as Asimov’s Foundation (probably more) and this newest volume is just as smart, technical, human, and funny as it’s predecessors. Big fan of Dennis E Taylor’s work and had high expectations for this book. “You rang?” asked one of the Guppies, and Dennis totally answered with Not Till We Are Lost. (I will now re-listen to it and patiently wait again for Book 6.) PS: Once again loved your performance Ray Porter. You can narrate my life anytime. You are the true voice of “The BOB.”
