Publisher's Summary

What do you have when you blend a pinch of LitRPG, a touch of farming simulator, a sprinkle of epic fantasy, a whole cup of Isekai, and a dash of Home Alone? You have Arnold’s life.

Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. He’s not the hero. He’s not the villain. He’s certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. He’s a clerical error.

It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you. That standard procedure doesn't apply to Arnold.

Now stuck on a new Earth, in a new universe, with no way home, Arnold must use his gaming skills to figure out how to level his farmer class to 100 and gain a second class which doesn't make him want to beat his head against the wall. There is just one small problem: Farmers don't gain experience from killing monsters. Like at all.

Follow Arnold on his hilarious journey as he stubbornly comes to grips with his new reality and tries to change his destiny from that of your typical farmer.

Great listen, if you're into it.

Obviously this type of story is for people that like to listen to similar LitRPG tales. it is, in fact, pretty well written, especially for a genre that's full of hits or misses. Sometimes, similar authors seem to skip past the whole "story" aspect of such books and just dive into the game/overarching magic system behind the setting. I would have rated the story a well deserved 4, at least. I would have happily given that rating, if it weren't for the beginning.

The book's main character is intentionally portrayed as imperfect in many ways, and that's fine, but one particular segment of abuse at the beginning of the story was major turnoff. That said, for listeners willing to endure a disdainful quarter hour, the rest of the story is much more enjoyable.

Good job. Please never start a story that way again, without considerable more care to more empathetic listeners, and a few more beta reads. It's a hard ask, but I still feel it could have have been written differently enough to be tolerable.

This series has potential!

First off id like to say this is a great start in this series however there is a few annoyances which resulted in 4 stars. The “Player Prompts” are many and it does get a little annoying during battle scenes, the curious part tho is the main character gets annoyed by them as well, I figured his familiar would explain how to mute them during battle but so far that has not happened, the player prompts do become less later on in the book tho so idk? And my next issue is the familiar, I honestly do not find the familiar entertaining, he is more the grumpy condescending type, maybe the familiar will get better in the next book. And the southern accent is quite odd and out of place imo, although you get used to it a couple hours in so no biggie.

Other than those minor issues this is an awesome and unique spin for this genre, the MC is great, side characters are pretty good, the battle scenes are well done, good plot and pace, great world building overall just great new series, definitely listen to the other reviews, this is a gem.

pretty entertaining

Less "home alone hijinks" than I expected, only a few traps are used. most of the story focuses on the mechanics and politics of the litrpg world Arnold lives in. That said, the whole story was entertaining enough to keep me going.

Wish the ending had resolved more, it sort of just glossed over a final conflict that had been built up and stopped abruptly afterwards. surely all meant to be developed in a sequel, but more payoff in this novel would have been nice.

overall, good book, less comedic than I'd hoped for but really not a bad story.

this narrator is very talented and pretty darn charming. makes for an easy listen.

Funny with amazingly comprehensive world mechanics

MUST HAVE LISTEN! Unlike most LRPC books the main character actually has personal growth that feels meaningful and impactful. Growth for not just to move the plot along, but how the character understands himself and the world he is in. It is fleshed out and feels real. Every character in the story seems like there is such a history in what made that person who they are. It keeps in engaging as the world isn't this stationary place where it moves only when the main character moves.

The narrator does a great job in fitting the tone of each characters personality. The parts where it's basically listing specs changes (it is a LRPC) becomes quite burdensome later in the novel so it's nice the narrator just speeds up to get it done.

I enjoyed it immensely and it is a great addition to my library.
