Publisher's Summary

Jason Burke was a man hiding from himself in a small cabin high in the American Rocky Mountains when his simple, quiet life was shattered one night by what he first assumed was an aviation mishap. But when he investigates the crash, what he finds will yank him out of his self-imposed exile and thrust him into a world he could have never imagined. He suddenly finds himself trapped on a damaged alien spacecraft and plunged into a universe of interstellar crime lords and government conspiracies, along the way meeting strange new friends… and enemies. As he struggles to find his way back home he is inexorably drawn deeper into a world where one misstep could mean his death. Or worse. He desperately wants to get back to Earth, but it may be the end for him...or is it just the beginning?

Fun scifi story.

A really fun story where a guy hiding out disillusioned with the military boards an "aircraft" thinking it crashed and people need help. He's whisked away on a space adventure with synthetic beings and other assorted aliens he will soon call friends as well as making some powerful enemies on the way. Also some great narrating.

No Woke crap. Decent storytelling.

No political garbage. It's not a masterpiece but by today's standards it is. So far no agenda, no modern political garbage. Not the best thing ever written but it's not bad.

lame

Yeah this is so cheesy. Narrator was fine but the story was trying so hard to be heroic you couldn't take it seriously.

Very Weak Effort

Very Weak character development, dialogue didn't seem natural in any way. It felt lawkward and the story was less then compelling. Actually fast forwardes through the last little bit because I really wasn't invested in the characters. There are far too many good science fiction stories to waste your time in this one.

Meh. Never really got going.

Bit of a cozy sci fi. I really like Dalzelle’s other works (have read all the black fleet novels) but this one left me cold. It’s got some decent points and is kinda fun, but it’s a little YA for my tastes.
