Publisher's Summary

He’s the goat of the NFL. She’s a hot-headed reporter who despises him. They’re in the same small town for the summer. What could possibly go wrong?

I'm more than aware of the responsibilities that come with being a quarterback in the NFL. The upside—I get to do what I love every day, which is play football. And I make more money than I know what to do with. The downside—everyone wants a piece of me, and the press stalks me ruthlessly. And one reporter in particular, Brinkley Reynolds, has crossed a line. She takes things too far. So yeah, I have her escorted out of the press conference. Imagine my surprise when the same woman walks into the coffee shop in the small town where I’ve gone to get some privacy for the summer.

I accuse her of stalking me. She calls me every name in the book before proceeding to make me feel very unwelcome in Cottonwood Cove. Her hometown. The place where she tucked tail and ran after I’d unknowingly gotten her fired.

So now, I’m public enemy number one. That’s fine with me. I’m not the biggest fan of her either. She’s equal parts stubborn and aggravating. But she happens to be the sexiest woman I’ve ever laid eyes on.

So I try to make amends. I’m not the devil after all. But she won’t give me the time of day, unless I agree to give her my story. One I’ve fought hard to protect since the day I started playing professional ball.

I don’t owe Brinkley Reynolds anything. So why am I considering giving her everything?

This is book three in the Cottonwood Cove series. Each one can be listened to as a complete stand-alone. An HEA is guaranteed!

Lovely Small Town Read!

Laura Pavlov does it again, the Cottonwood Cove series is absolutely delightful! If you read and loved her Honey Mountain series, then this is the next series for you, and if you haven’t it yet, put it on your TBR! They’re the perfect small town, steamy reads and include all the tropes throughout the series.

On the Shore is book 3 in the Cottonwood Cove series. It’s the story of Brinkley and Lincoln. Brinkley Reynolds is a sports journalist covering Lincoln Hendrix, the GOAT of the NFL, and ends up getting fired because of him. After losing her job, she returns home to Cottonwood Cove, and by coincidence, Lincoln ends up in the same town to escape the city during his offseason. Though they’re enemies to start, they quickly bond while working together, and the spice begins from there…

The chemistry between Brinkley and Lincoln is electric. Her fierce and fiery independence is the perfect match for his cocky, confident nature. The banter is excellent, as always, and my very favourite, the siblings texts, continue throughout the book! This book will have you in all the feels, as Laura always does.

Side note, the audio for this book was Fantastic. The narration by Erin Mallon and Joe Arden was amazing. 😍

Loved Brinkley and Lincoln!

OMG Lincoln and Brinkley were perfection! Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this book knocked it out of the park! Brinkley is a sports reporter, who ends up getting fired after she makes Lincoln, superstar quarterback, mad and he kicks her out of a press conference. She returns to her hometown to lick her wounds and figure out her next steps. Unbeknownst to him, Lincoln ends up in the same town, and accuses Brinkley of stalking him when they run into each other. He’s pretty quickly put in his place when he realizes the Reynolds’s are royalty in Cottonwood Cove. He feels bad when he learns Brinkley was fired, and tries to make things right. He gives Brinkley essentially an all access pass to his life over the off season. The two embark on a friendship as Brinkley does research for her article on him.
Holy heck the slow burn on this was delicious! There was so much sexual tension between these two, initially when they hated each other, and it continues to build as they grow their friendship. I love when the big, strong athlete turns into a total softie for his woman and Lincoln did not disappoint. And the mouth on that man! He definitely used it to his advantage, especially when he was trying to convince Brinkley to take a chance on him. There was such great banter between the two of them, it made me chuckle so much while I was listening. The Reynolds clan is always so delightful, and I’m glad we got a lot of them in this book. I loved the scenes they were in, especially the first dinner Lincoln has with them, it had me smiling and laughing a ton! I found myself pausing the book a lot to take down quotes, there was so many amazing ones in this book.
Erin Mallon and Joe Arden were absolutely perfect as Brinkley and Lincoln! The two of them are a dream team and I will listen to anything they are narrating.
