Publisher's Summary
A former Delta Force commander, Brad Taylor proves with this breathtaking debut thriller that Vince Flynn and Brad Thor have company.
A collection of top operatives, the Taskforce was commissioned by the highest levels of government, kept secret from the media and even Congress. The best of the Taskforce bunch, Pike Logan, knows the greatest threat to American security is one or two idealogues. Unfortunately for them, they’ve just crossed Pike’s path.

Would have been a good story plot; however, the script was weak.
The narrators were okay with the exception of the attempt at the female protagonist which was very weak and overly melodramatic.

Buy the book, Skip the audio version
Is there anything you would change about this book?
the 2-reader format is extremely distracting
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jennifer, she's a quick study
Would you be willing to try another one of J. D. Jackson and Neil Kaplan ’s performances?
Perhaps individually but not in a tag-team format like this book
Was One Rough Man worth the listening time?
Had to give it two tries. The 2-reader format was too distracting and I gave up. After reading so many positive reviews of the book I gave it a second try.
So no...it wasn't worth the listening time.
Any additional comments?
The storyline was good but the audio book was very difficult to get through. It has 2 readers, one for the background and another for the character's. It takes on a "meanwhile back at the ranch" feel. Additionally there are times when the background reader does the character voices in context and it makes it very distracting.
I see that the rest of the series is formatted the same way. think I'm going to have pass, at least in the audio version.

terrible narration
Would you try another book from Brad Taylor and/or J. D. Jackson and Neil Kaplan ?
maybe, but not with the same narrator.
Would you ever listen to anything by Brad Taylor again?
maybe
Would you be willing to try another one of J. D. Jackson and Neil Kaplan ’s performances?
no
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I was too annoyed with the narration to get far enough into the story to rate the substance. I tried several
times to listen but could not make it for more than 5-10 minutes.

story was slow and reading was nails on chalkboard
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
not sure i would recommend this book to a friend... there are better reads/listens out there. the story was slow but finished okay- but the story was ruined with the readers. it got on my nerves and stayed there.
What didn’t you like about J. D. Jackson and Neil Kaplan ’s performance?
the mock womens voices were HORRIBLE and added a note of weakness to every word the author wrote. i will not listen to another word the author wrote from these readers. i knew george g. was a good reader or armand s. but did not realize that if they were horrible i would not want to read/listen to a story ever again...
Was One Rough Man worth the listening time?
concept of the story was there but the over all effect of the listen was ruined.
Any additional comments?
sorry to the author. i think you have tallent but by allowing these readers access to your material you are doing yourself a great injustice.

Horrible
This has to be the worst book I have listened to in a long time. I am really upset that Vince Flynn recommended it! The build up was non-existent, the plot was nowhere and the characters had no depth what so ever. Do not waste your money!

Insistent violence
Setting aside the annoying narration, especially the voice of "Pike", I found this story insistent and annoying in its' dependence on violence to move the plot forward. I generally make myself listen to entire books in order to fairly judge them but I found this one uncomfortable to complete. It didn't get any better.

Good Story, just not quite "Prime Time".
What did you like about this audiobook?
The modern technology used by Delta, and the wide range of mission tactics. The modern day warrior is significantly more advanced and complicated than the days of MACVSOG.
How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?
I had to buy the second book as a result of increasing interest in the realistic story line. If Brad Taylor wrote it, it has to be an extrapolation of his or his groups history. I would love to read some of the after-action reports.
Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?
I think Eric Henley, and Charley Beckworth jumped Taylor's butt for being too insightful. Taylor must be Americas' answer to James Bond. All kidding aside, this book is good and gives readers a look inside a very black world. This book would make a good TV series, oh wait a minute; that has already been done.
What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?
I hated the deep gravely voices used to indicate different people in the scene. I found the performance amateurish and distracting. Good story, but get some one with more range than this narrator.
Do you have any additional comments?
The second book is much better than the first. I'm trying to find a copy of the third book. Evidently Audible hasn't heard of it yet. Get on the ball guys. I want to hear the third book.
I would also be very interested in knowing why Taylor left his group. Any S.F./Seal group/team is a family with bonds that are stronger than that of any sibling. I wouldn't be interested in hearing anything about age or retirement. Like it eludes too in the book, people like Pike have trouble assimilating into a world normal Citizens.
