She's achingly close to taking charge of a media empire for her boss when she's sent to investigate a South Bronx charity that helps homeless people's pets. Publisher's Summary
Caitlyn Lloyd has the world at her feet. Or more accurately - under her horse’s hooves. With the 2016 Rio Olympics just around the corner, nothing is going to derail her long-held dream of winning a medal or two in Olympic dressage. Not even the reappearance of a childhood so-not-a-friend throwing her perfectly balanced life into disarray.
Addie Gardner’s career is at its peak, and accepting a last-minute fill-in position as the veterinarian for the US Olympic Dressage Team was a no-brainer. The fact that her old crush from Pony Club is on the team is just a bonus. Not a distraction at all. And it might just offer the chance to be friends with the girl who wouldn’t even give her the time of day 20 years ago.
But Caitlyn and Addie have very different memories of their time together at Pony Club, and their first meeting as adults is less like a reconnection and more like a butting of heads. With the Olympics looming, they’ll need to set aside their history and learn to work together. And maybe Caitlyn and Addie will realize childhood memories aren’t always accurate, and that they have more in common than they would ever have thought. Maybe. Just maybe.

Loved it!
I loved everything about this book! And not just because I’m also an equestrian.
The story kept my attention throughout, the characters actually had a story together and didn’t just meet and automatically love each other, and Abby Craden nailed the narration like always.
I bought the audiobook the second I got notified on Amazon of its release and I don’t regret it for a second. Only wish it was longer or that there was another like this.

I love everything EJ Noyes and Abby Craden
I have found myself waiting for the other show to drop often while reading love stories. Just waiting the for the protagonist to make some mistake or a love interest to cheat. It seems that this is how “love” is expressed in media and literature often and I find it boring and distasteful. I’m pretty over it.
That is what is so refreshing about EJ Noyes. The characters are interesting and still able to do the right things. I’ve had conversations and been told about how a story would be bland if the characters didn’t make epic mistakes to learn from. But these characters act with heart and just simply do the right thing. Which I love. I wanted a love story that is stressless and endearing. And cheesy okay. I like cheesy romantic and I’m not sorry. Lol. Especially at this time in the world. Haha.
Also I enjoy how EJ Noyes gives subtle insights about the subject matter and brings you into the folds of a new world you may not know about. After having read Ask Tell and this book I enjoy the effort put into the details about living a different lifestyle and I know nothing about horses or the olympics but it is obvious she conveys a glimpse into those worlds. I don’t ride horses but now I want to…thanks. :) Seems like an expensive hobby….
Also I’d listen to Abby Craden read a math textbook and be hypnotized. Haha. But for real. :)
So listen to this book and all of EJ Noyes or Abby Craden! Trust me.

Emotional but enjoyable romance
After reading the ebook I could not resist listening to Abby Craden narrating this story. Noyes’s obvious knowledge and love of horses runs through this book like a roaring river. Dewey is the third main character and is the most endearing animal character I have ever come across. His intelligence and curiosity of things all human and animal are so well written. If you are an animal lover but not so sure about the working of dressage do not worry. Noyes explains it all in the book and also the additional glossary. Do yourself a favour and buy this book in what ever form you enjoy.

About horses? I know nothing!
First, I know nothing about horses or the type of performance that's the setting for this book. A little or a lot more information would have made this book much more interesting.
Secondly, the women who were discordant as kids becoming friends and lovers as adults was kind of nice.
Thirdly, the sex scenes were great and nice to have described in detail, with accuracy.
And lastly it seemed that it (almost) coined the stereotype of lesbians that brought the moving van to the 2nd date. LOL
Now all that said, I enjoyed the book for the most part, it was an enjoyable listen. Abby Craden was fantastic as usual. Her "Southern" accent sounded very natural and cute.

Gets better after first chapter or so
Okay even though I couldn’t care less about any competitive sport, I did love hearing about horse antics and horse and human bonding and also the romance. Too much Angst and yes no maybe and too much of the soft porn ‘erotica’ for my taste, but I guess that sort of vicarious sex sells. Still a well written story.

This is an excellent read, terrific characters great flow and pacing. So often with sports being a main part of the story they can feel like a manual on the sport. Ej did a great job getting the info on what the sport was into the story without it feeling like a lecture. AC great as always. Spend the credit you won’t be disappointed

EJ Noyes gets the equestrian world so right. She shares such an amazing story while helping make other understand the pressures of competition.

Sexually Explicit
I thought this would be about horses. It is more to do with a lesbian relationship. with graphic detail about intimacy. I don't care who is doing it, I don't need the details. Very misleading .

Another hit by Noyes...
No one will be surprised to hear that Abby Craden narrated this book brilliantly. There will also be no surprise when I write E.J. Noyes has written another fantastic sapphic romance. This time, we get the added bonus of a horse as a supporting character. Caitlyn is fighting for her place on the Olympic Team competing in dressage while also fighting her feelings for Addie, the team’s veterinarian who she hasn’t seen since pony club. Great chemistry all around. Two thumbs up here.

Great story, wonderful narration
E. J. Noyes and Abby Craden, need I say more? I loved this book when I read it, but the timing wasn’t the best and I didn’t enjoy it as much as I should have. I knew the audiobook would fix it, and when Rach at Les Rêveur asked if I wanted to review it, I jumped at the chance.
Abby Craden’s narration is wonderful as usual, even if she struggles a little with some of the French terms, but who cares. It’s not like there’s any French character anyway, and she pronounces them the way most Americans would. Since the characters are American, it’s perfect.
One of the reasons why I love audiobooks is that of course, it’s a totally different experience but also, what catches my attention when I read and when I listen isn’t always the same. And while I loved this story already, I completely rediscovered it in Abby Craden’s narration. And I’m not going to lie, the first night Addie and Caitlyn spend together registered in a whole new way when read by Craden. It’s true of many other scenes but that one blew me away.
I loved Addie’s smooth, honey-like voice. Caitlyn’s tension when she’s worried about Dewey or protecting her heart contrast nicely with all the moments when she’s relaxed and happy. She gets bold with Addie when she feels safe and that boldness is reflected in her voice.
Whatever didn’t work one hundred per cent for me in that first reading is long forgotten, and I don’t even know why I thought it was a 4.5⭐️ book. I’m upgrading the initial rating to the full 5⭐️ it deserves.

Bad day for writer and narrator?
I adore EJ Noyes. I was so impressed by "Alone" and by "Turbulence"... "Pas de Deux" however never grasped me like the 2 former books. Endless descriptions of the riding (and I consider myself a real horselover) or veterinarian practice. Although I like slow burns, I didn't really feel the fire burning at any time. A huge fan of Abby Craden, she couldn't quite take the story to a higher level. A pity...
