So lame.... Full of fluff and useless filler

Didn't get much out of it... Mostly obvious stuff like attention is important.. Ok cool.. Lol. First 3 chapter were ok but the rest was obvious that she ran out of what to write and starts talking about her dog... Her kid. Stuff that has nothing to do with anything. She even talked about covid and what social distancing is...what a joke of a book. If it's too short don't force to make it longer.. And the narrator is very boring as my mind was wondering more listening to this type of voice than any other book.. Being a book on attention I think whoever decided to use this narrator is trolling

Get to the point

The book could be very useful for many people but you could pretty much just skip to 3 hours in and get to the point.

Mindfulness training works!

Loved this book! Amisha totally nailed the fact that we as humans need to be more mindful of our day to day practices instead of just flying through the day reactively. Highly recommend this read.

Essential skills to thrive

When I started listening to this book I wanted to take it slow, to digest it, to really be able to learn and apply what I heard. I was not disappointed. This book is so practical and teaches you exactly how to train your mind for clarity and to be able to thrive in the busyness and chaos of modern life. We all know that there are so many distractions. Whether it's the social media scroll, dings from messages, or even your own stressful thoughts, you can learn to take back control of your mind. This book teaches you how.

Was very disappointed

I’m not sure if I set my hopes for this book to high after having read the reviews but wow I tried multiple times listening through and now I’m just deciding it wasn’t for me. There is a lot of fluff. I don’t feel I learned anything. The entire first part of the book basically was just shaming people for their attention spans? It made me feel more down then hopeful that I would be able to improve. I hate leaving negative reviews but I wish I hadn’t spent my money on this book.

Accompanying PDF is found in the audible app

I first heard about Dr. Amishi Jha on a Ted Talk 4 years ago and thought her work was very interesting. I heard about this book after watching her interview on JRE. I’m still listening to the book and will update my review after I finish it.

For those looking for the accompanying PDF online, no need to search any further, I found it under the triple dot menu in the audible app while listening to the book.

slow and boring

when I watched her interview on Joe Rogan she was so passionate, it was easy to be intrigued with her study. This book has a lot of back story and does not hold my attention at all. instead it is somehow making me angry. which is saying something because I'm usually extremely mellow. I read many books and hardly ever leave reviews, especially unfavorable ones.

Will close an open mind

Bunch of bs. Full of fluff and pseudoscience. Very irritating to listen too. I already meditate 30mins 2 times a day. The author is extremely narcissistic and sexist. You can tell she is either exaggerating her personal experiences or fabricating them. Thankfully I have a good base on mindfulness and great bs detector or this book would have turned me away from mindfulness altogether. I really dislike this author as a person. She seems to prey on people and extract what she wants from their responses. I am a disabled vet and continually have to deal with shitheads like her. I know if I told her this to her face her response would be condescending and accusatory. I watched her on the JRE podcast and was totally irritated when she made up her own term for thinking and Joe had to ask her “what does that mean?” I regretfully continued and gave her a chance.

The Most Practical Mindfulness Instructional

This is the most practical instruction in mindfulness I've ever read or listened to. It just clicks. It's hard to know how much time is necessary with most teachers simply giving you the vague "more is better" approach. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in how and WHY you should incorporate a mindfulness practice. Even a short 12 min per day is all you need and anyone can do that. I'll have to listen to this a couple more times as throughout I was reminded how little I was actually paying true attention as I was continuously made aware of how much the attention wanders, haha. I wish Amishi would have taken the time to read this herself but Xe Sands is an excellent narrator and is very engaged with the material. Go get it now and get a grip on that attention of yours!

Very enlightening with helpful exercises, thanks!

This work is pure genius. I'm really glad I found out about this book from listening to a Joe Rogan podcast episode with Amishi which got me interested in learning more. I think it’s helpful for addressing the root issues for difficulties and lack of true growth with meditation, focus, awareness, and overall mental well-being.

A lot of works will hype up and convince people of methods for self-improvement but lack the actual research to back it up in the real world with regards to all people consistently. This is not one of them as it actually delves into all of the legitimate research done and evidence for the improvements one can expect to gain from the knowledge in this book.

The author successfully reintroduces, improves upon, and proves the effectiveness of ancient holistic practices combined with; and in addition to, those of the modern age and new ones invented by the author for not just improving one’s mind but also for living a better, more enlightened life.

I wish this was what it could have been

The information is very important. I think it is written well. I wish the publishing companies would stop pushing professional narrators. I heard the author on a podcast. The author was very interesting and entertaining. This audio book would be so much better if it was read by the author. The narrator just feels like bad over acting.
