Publisher's Summary

You wake up floating. Not in the air, but horizontally in a coffin-sized chamber filled with blue gelatinous fluid. You do not remember what this is. You do not remember why you are here. You do not remember who you are.

This is how it begins: Select-Your-Destiny™, a storytelling experience that places the listener directly in the action by giving them the power to choose what happens. The narrator describes the circumstances, and once a Destiny Node is reached, the listener chooses what happens next. The narrator narrates, the listener chooses. That is how it has always worked—until now.

In this story, the listener chooses to team up with the narrator, collaborating on what shape the story will take. A story of an unnamed teen who must piece together what’s going on after waking from suspended animation in a vacant bunker deep underground without memory. With each twist and turn, each Destiny Node, the listener and narrator begin to recover what was lost. What comes to light will transform them both.

Unusual

Not just the same old doomsday bunker story. Very interesting and thought provoking story with an unusual format.

I was surprised. So good!

The fourth wall breakdown, the voices, the story. All so good! Really impressed by this story from a writer I'd never heard of.

A very good short story.

This was a very interesting different story. Written in an unusual perspective. It was engaging and entertaining. The narrator was great, I actually looked up any other books that he did. This is definitely worth listening to.

choose your own adventure, but not.

interesting concept, well executed. I'm still not sure I liked it. A bit reminiscent of Dora the explorer talking to the audience, receiving answers you can't hear. The premise of the underlying story was also interesting but it would need a lot of rounding out the details and history to make it great.

it lies. not a choose-your-own-adventure

This book claims to be a choose your own adventure that listens to audio queues. It is not. It pauses occasionally to let you talk, but the "choices" are predetermined. I would be fine with a story referring to the main character as "you" but don't lie to me about me having a choice. At one point the narrator says "I have no control or influence over any of it. No investment in the outcome." That sums up this entire book for me. A false choice is much worse than no choice.
