Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome - especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do - and sacrifice - for her.

When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies - lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon…and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude…or killing her. When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

this is on my DNF list simply because of the narrator. it's super disappointing since I love the author

The story line is great and had potential to be excellent however the FML was hard to fall in love with. She was very self centred, immature & doesn’t take anything seriously nor was able to piece anything together with her life or for her safety. The mark of a strong FML was completely missed. She couldn’t do or feel anything when it came to enemy’s, fighting but also her love interests. She allowed everyone to walk all over her and did nothing but sulk, refuse everything or cry for days in bed. While o think the author was trying to make the FML’s stubbornness & irrational characteristics form as a strength. With everything else surrounding her character, it completely fell off & the FML just appears to be a young ill mannered, whiney girl with hearts in her eyes, to whom will have powers on her 18th bday. It became hard to be excited about continuing the book as her character growth so far in the second book isn’t really growing in the strength one would want to see.

The story line though is a good one.

I read over half of the book and then switched to audio book. For that reason I can say that the story is really enjoyable. Unfortunately, some words that the narrator says have inflection in odd spots. This makes the narration a little irritating at times.
