About this listen
Car mechanic Mercy Thompson has always known there was something different about her, and not just the way she can make a VW engine sit up and beg. Mercy is a shapeshifter, a talent she inherited from her long-gone father. She's never known any others of her kind. Until now.
An evil is stirring in the depths of the Columbia River - one that her father's people may know something about. And to have any hope of surviving, Mercy and her mate, the Alpha werewolf Adam, will need their help....

"An outstanding urban fantasy novel with some well-loved and well-traveled characters...The way [Briggs] writes about all of the different fictional supernatural creatures is fascinating and keeps you on your toes.” (Examiner.com)

Reveiw
River Marked is one of those entries into the Mercy Verse that I love for multiple reasons. One is because it explores Mercy's native heritage in a respectful was, which is rare in modern media.
(Spoilers)
Another is that even though this should be a turning point in the series it really isn't. In so many stories the main protagonist getting married incites a sever change in who they are. However, Mercy and Adam remain themselves throughout the book. Their banter doesn't change, nor does marriage solve their character flaws. it's nice to read a series where the main casts marriage isn't the end all of everything.
As for Lorilei King, she owned this. The narration is spot on as always. Definitely something I'll listen too again soon.
