About this listen

Hockey goalies are known to be obsessive—but none more so than my ex’s brother.

I just didn’t expect to be on the receiving end of his dark possessive streak.

After a mortifying public break up with his older brother and teammate, Miles Whiteshaw declares me as his. That I’ve always been his, minus my year-long lapse in judgment.

The only problem? I’ve sworn off of two things:
Whiteshaw boys and love.

But Miles will go to any length to prove that we belong together—and I’m not sure we’ll survive the fallout if he’s wrong.

3.5/5 ⭐️ for the story and 5/5 ⭐️ for the narrators! I thought Miles was going to be the most normal but he was SO messed up. Like all the other books, the CNC was pretty extreme. Part’s definitely made me feel very uncomfortable. It was disturbing but in a strangely addicting kind of way. Would I recommend this book? To certain people, sure… Was it my favourite dark romance? No, it was not. Obviously I’m still going to continue with this dark romance/hockey series… I’m looking forward to reading Jacob’s story next!

TW: Sexual assault, dub-con, CNC, murder, kidnapping, alcohol/drug abuse, bullying, violence, very graphic/SPICY scenes.

Secret Obsession, the third installment in the Hockey Gods series by S. Massery, is a literary goal that hits the back of the net with a perfect score. This marks my third journey with this author, and I must admit, I never anticipated a story that would grip my heart tighter than the previous two.

What makes this novel stand out is the over-the-top possessiveness and jealousy of the hero, Miles Whiteshaw. It's a refreshing twist to witness the roles reversed, challenging the conventional dynamics. Miles, with his dark and intense possessive streak, creates a magnetic pull that keeps readers hooked from the first page.

The heroine's stubbornness adds another layer to the narrative, creating a delightful tension. It's exasperating yet endearing to watch her navigate through a love that's right in front of her, while she remains blissfully unaware. The emotional rollercoaster induced literal ugly cries on my end, a testament to the author's ability to craft characters with depth and authenticity.

The synopsis promises hockey, possessiveness, and love, and Massery delivers on all fronts. Miles Whiteshaw's determination to claim what he believes is rightfully his creates an electrifying tension that propels the story forward. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, leaving readers yearning for more.

Listening to the audiobook while reading enhanced the overall experience. The well-narrated voices brought the characters to life, intensifying the emotions and creating an immersive journey. Massery's writing prowess shines through, delivering a narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

In conclusion, Secret Obsession is a literary hat-trick, scoring high on passion, intensity, and emotional depth. S. Massery has outdone herself, proving that the third time's a charm. If you're a fan of possessive heroes, stubborn heroines, and a love story that transcends the norm, this book is a must-read. Get ready for a heart-pounding experience that will leave you breathless and yearning for more.

she is so dramatic and has the victim mentality. the other two girls had real trauma and they didn't feel this much sorry for themselves as willow does unnecessarily. she had perfectly normal childhood and loving parents but she whines about how she was never loved. then she gets into a stupid relationship with knox knowing all the red flags, ignoring violets advice, and overlooking knox's flow. and she keeps saying knox did everything to make her fall for him, where it was furthest from the truth, knox treated her like shit and she feel for him because she wanted to self destruction. these stories are fucked up, and esp after reading vi and Aspens story, I felt like this girl got off so easily. everything happened to her was her fault directly because she is someone who plays dumb and a victim when she could avoid the bad situation but doesn't so she can call feel sorry for herself. I wish miles really did make her life hell. she deserved it.

willow is the most annoying person
